Arenal Hostel Resort Reviews

Very friendly and helpful staff. My only issue was some kind of critter on or in the roof at night--they were a bit noisy. But, it was a minor issue, overall.

The staff made our stay exceptional. Would easily return to this hostel. Alonso and Jennifer made us feel as though we were family. Felt that we were at a resort not a hostel.

We took the hostel's Volcano Hike tour. The tour and guide were excellent. Recommended!

IMO the hostel is very good for the price. Rooms are situated around a nice courtyard with hammocks and roofed picnic tables to relax at during down time. There's a small pool for enjoying when the weather cooperates. Also, a nice bar/restaurant with a very friendly staff. The hostel staff was very helpful when i needed to call the bus service for a change in pick-up location. The only complaints i have are the quality of the matress and there was no hot water at "peak" shower times.

This hostel was amazing. It was everything you would need for a wonderful stay. Great staff, pool, food, bar, hammocks, music, and right in town close to the volcano and waterfall. Tours can be booked right at the front desk and questions will be answered. Rocking chairs outside of your room are a perfect way to start the day. Stores with all your needs are close by and they have a kitchen you can cook in. Can't go wrong with this hostel in Arenal area

Awesome that a hostel has a swim up bar. Nice resort and great location for doing all that there is to do in the La Fortuna area. On the flip side......the bed was past it's warranty. Springs poking up into our hips made for a difficult night's sleep. If you know about the solar shower issue, it helps. We never did get hot enough water to shave, but we were on vacation, so we did not care too much. Also, it's hot there so a cool shower was welcome relief. Overall, would recommend!

This is by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at!!!! Highly recommended.

It's a good place to stay. It's beautiful with pool and bar and everything. Downside is that they have their own travel agency so they are not eager to share info on how to do things independently. For example: it's easy to go to the volcano on your own - and much cheaper! Stay here if you wanna relax and have some money to spend.

Arenal hostel resort was perfect for my sister and I traveling in la fortuna. Great big room, balcony, comfortable beds. Roberto serving up delicious drinks! Great tour recs. Excellent security. Only complaint was that the night security guard was out chilling with his buddies underneath our window until past midnight both nights and their voices carried and kept us awake.

If you are staying in La Fortuna, this is the place to stay. We arrived on a Sat night so we had the entertainment by the swimming pool with music, cocktails, BBQ.... We stayed only one night since they did not have availability for the second one (shame) and no hostel in La Fortuna could compare to this one.

Good place to stay, friendly staff, nice big rooms, altough no hot water during my two days stay.

Arenal Hostel Resort is the best place I ve visited since my stay in Costa Rica so far...Clean, friendly, gorgeous atmosphere in the garden and by the pool, the rooms are spacious, hot water, t.v. air cond. I highly reccomentd it.

The receptionist is great and you get great bang for your buck. My 2 bedroom private room was exactly what I was looking for. Also, the breakfast was a solid way to start the day.

the staff was amazing, espcially Alonzo, book the tour to the Arenal with him, it´s the best. when you arrive they give you a free drink at the pool. they play good music at the bar. i stayed in a dorm and it was ok. the only option for a safe is at the desk so it´s less convenient but ok. there is a supermarket close by. other than going on tours there´s not much to do around town so don´t spend more than 2 days there. i loved the place, probably the best hostel untill now.

I booked this hostel in hostel world.com with the best value that they mention single private room is 12.50 USD per person,so I booked the room immediately, however, when they bring me to the room, it is a dorm for 6 people, I ask the hostel and they say it probably is the mistake of hostel world, the price is for dorm, not for single private room, if I want, I can pay more to stay in the single private room, but the price is out of my budge, I'm not feel comfortable for this.

Holy smokes! This is the best/nicest hostel I've ever stayed at. Got my free drink at the swim up bar and hung out in a hammock before a blissful night's rest. Nice staff. Great deal!

Right off the main square in town. A VERY nice hostel for the money. Bar is a great place to socialize and meet people to hit the town. Pool is very small and more of a cool place to sit while you drink :) This place is pretty noisy, when things get rowdy. You can hear everything inside the compound and a little from the street. Sister property Bacpackers Hostel Resort was a little further out of town but looked a little nicer (less people at their bar, though). Staff was awesome! I recommend!

Very centraland fun place to stay. Staff were helpful and friendly.

This hostel resort was amazing. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the food was GREAT, the view of the volcano was a plus, and there was even a swim up bar! I loved how it was a "resort". You get a wrist band when you arrive and it feels really safe. We also went on tours through the hotel and the guide was great! I would recommend this place to anyone!

This is definetly a youth hostel. Its pretty noisy at night. Having a karaoke outdoors next to the bar does not help the situation.
