The central location of the hostel is brilliant. It was a great hostel to stay a couple of days in Galway

Amazing stay in an amazing city! The staff were very friendly - we got a free upgrade upon arrival, they were very chatty and had lots of tips for us. The facilities were great, and the location was perfect.

We could not have asked for a better location! If you want to sleep at night this is not the place for you as it is right on a row of bars, the streets were packed with people until sunrise. Lucky for us we were out with them! Tons of fun, handy to have a bathroom right by so as not to wait in pub lines.

I enjoyed my stay at Barnacles. There were 2 main cons - the noise at night (the window near my head was directly over a street lined with pubs) I know there is little Barnacles can do about this - except maybe air conditioning so we can sleep with the windows shut- but you should be aware! The other was the lockers - they were just cages locked to the beds. I'd prefer a solid locker. Also they were too small for many pieces of luggage. The bathrooms and kitchens were nice, wifi on the groundfl

The hostel was full but they gave us a little apartment just around the corner which was lovely !

A great hostel with lots of character in the heart of lovely Galway; strong coffee in the morning (free), decent facilities, free wifi, and helpful staff. The area is popular and noisy, with plenty of restaurants and bars, so remember to ask for earplugs at reception if you want to sleep!

The first room I was in was perfect, with lockers and plugs for charging at every bed, but then I had to move to another room which was so small, up a lot of stairs and doors, right on top of the street so very noisy, and very packed. I really didnt like that other room. The free coffee was great. you should leave tea and coffee free all day.

The hostel was in the perfect location! Up and down the street, there were plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs. Definitely a welcoming and warm atmosphere both inside and outside the hostel as well. The lockers under the bunks were a little loud, so it was somewhat inconvenient if you wanted to get something in the night and didn't want to wake your roommates. There was only one shower and toilet per room, with no community showers/toilets, but overall a great experience with great staff!

The staff was friendly and ready to help with whatever it may be. The room was ok and the bathroom was tiny. It has a great shower, though! I couldn't use the locker to keep my luggage safe inside the room, since I wasn't able to pull it from under the bed 'cause the bed frame was convex, holding the locker drawer.

The area the hostel is in is very loud. Not the fault of the hostel at all, but wish I knew going in. However they thankfully give out free ear plugs. Additionally there was no community feel in the hostel. This might be helped by throwing little get togethers, even a game night or a happy hour or something.

Clean and airy. Cookers take an age to heat up.

The Romanian janitor is very nice. Bald twin loves to cut locks. I got lost on the way to my room, but the room was deliciously decorated. There is a kitchen and a lounge that I never used because Galway is great. I'm drunk and I highly recommend you stay here if you find yourself in Galway.

We had a double room en-suite that was situated at the back of the hostel. A bit small for two people but clean and everything needed in place. Also Wifi was working in kitchen area! I was surprised how quiet it was, taking into account that it is right in the pub-area. But we stayed during the week and maybe it gets more noisy during the weekend... Anyway, we have nothing to complain about. :)

The hostel was generally very well run. The staff were all exceptional and the location is great. My only complaint was that there was no hot water in the showers on one of the days I was there.

Location is excellent if u want to party or to see the city, if your just looking for a good nights sleep, this may not be the place as the streets are very noisy!(there's a pub across the street that stays open till like 2.30!). Breakfast is basic but good. Staff are very friendly! Shower was quite small, very little room to move in it :( However i do recommend and i would stay here again!
