Thoroughly enjoyed my time in Galway, largely in part to staying at Barnacles. A great hostel staff were friendly and very helpful when asking for directions or booking tours. Great location the closest pub is literally 10m out the door and many more along the street. Kitchen facilities were also clean and the blackboards with the names of pubs and clubs and the type of music were helpful when deciding where to go out. Would definitely stay here again

Enjoyed my stay: very helpful staff, great location, and nice atmosphere. Free wifi and toast for breakfast a plus. I liked the set up of the lounge as well. Felt very cosy. Would certainly recommend this hostel.

The shower/toilet in the dorm was disgusting or as a fellow American traveller was quoted as saying "Gross". Apart from that it is a fantastic hostel in an incredibly central location. The above issue I feel is as a result of others staying in the hostel rather than anything to do with the cleaning regime. Highly recommended.

Overall great time, clean, friendly staff, awesome location. Downsides; beds a bit uncomfortable, some street noise, cold shower, breakfast is toast and juice. Would definitely stay again.

PERFECT LOCATION!! Stay here - right next to amazing restaurants, bars, pubs, shops, etc. Fairly close walk to the bus station as well. Staff was great, extremely friendly and helpful, and had a variety of activities to do, from comedy shows, bar/pub crawls, and discounted day excursions. Facilities are clean, and location is good. It's great value for your money, and you won't be bored one minute in Galway.

the only problem I encountered was the lack of blinds on the velox windows in 1 dorm

Very handy spot. Great location, friendly staff, no frills but no need for it. Also decent shower.

I've since stayed in pubs and the value for money is excellent there. I have my own room and ensuite and a full cooked breakfast for the same amount of money that I pay for a single room at a hostel. The pub owners are really friendly and accommodating and sitting at the bar at night is a great way to meet locals rather than meeting other foreigners. The pubs get my vote over a hostel.

This was our first stay in a hostel and we were very impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. We didn't expect that. The room was tiny but clean.

I would definitely recommend Barnacles - Galway. It is in a great location and easy to get to from the bus/train station. I stayed at Barnacles Monday-Thursday and didn't have a big problem with noise. On Wednesday, it got a little loud, but not unbearable. It was very clean and the staff were super friendly. My bed was really old and I could feel the springs in my back, which I did not like. Also, the bathroom floor gets really wet after showers and there is no floor mat.

Barnacles is great. There are so many fun places to go just outside the front door and the staff are great about pointing you in the right direction. Facilities are really good, though bathrooms are a bit grimy. I'd definitely go back.

As a group we found the rooms very small as well as the hostel , very small. We wonder what the hostel is like in high season when it is fully booked. The staff, very very helpful, all of them!!!

The dorm and bathroom were clean, the staff friendly, but the metal bunk beds so noisy !!! every time the mate who had the bed above mine wanted to go on or out his bed, I thought it was a hearthquake !! my sleep was awful !!
