Nice place to stay, the hostel is located in the heart of the city. The room was clean and comfortable. Good atmosphere. Staff were very kind and helpful. I will be back. Recomended. Ryszard.

Very accomodating, had to book late like a day before our arrival for some friends who decided the last minute. They were able to get a room beside us, €30 noise deposit might be a bit dear but all 11 of us got it back. Defo a good place to stay! We will be back next year for sure and hopefully get a 12-bed by then! Thank you!

This hostel has a good reputation but I can't see why other than good security and friendly staff. The heating was poor and the 4 bed room was the size of a shoebox. Luckily I was the only occupant and I had enough trouble moving around and getting clothes out of my suitcase, I'd hate to think what it would have been like if the room was full! Shower was freezing and required a button to be pushed every minute to keep it running! If you like to be comfortable and shower then don't stay here.

REally helpful, informative staff. Do not leave the heater on full blast over night though - we nearly died! Pretty small rooms so best for a short stay.

I coulndn't fault this hostel. The rooms were great, bathroom was clean. The staff were really friendly and there were plently of pamphletes around to assist in activites around Galway. There was a clean kitchen to use and plenty of helpful signs around offering tips on what to do in bad weather, what to cook on a budget etc. Great hostel overall

I stayed at Barnacles for a week over christmas and it was wonderful. The hostel is in a great location and is very clean and comfortable. For christmas day the hostel hosted a big christmas lunch with games and everyone was invited to help out and be a part of it which was lovely. The staff are all very nice and extremely helpful and fun to just chat to. I want to say a special thank you to Gabbi for making my first christmas away from home a fantastic one, muchly appreciated.

Barnacles has a great location, walk outside and you're surrounded by pubs. The best fish & chips place is down the street. The staff will tell you where to go, and they have a great discount for a Cliffs of Moher bus tour. I had a great time in Galway, large part to the hostel. It felt very young and everyone that stayed there was really friendly. Barnacles is highly recommended by me.

Unbelievably friendly - great place to stay and have the craic. It would be handy if there were more plug sockets beside the beds in the dorms but you can't really complain for the price you are paying.

The staff was excellent! Took the time to write down a full on pub tour for us with a map of locations! Location also is fabulous. Room (double private ensuite) was a bit tiny, but got the job done!

Good location and friendly staff. Clean room. The only negative thing was that the room was a bit cold. The heater was on timer so you couldn't control it yourself.

After a very friendly welcome by the receptionist, I was promptly directed to my room which was spotlessly clean with attractive bedlinen and plenty of towels. I thought Barnacles Galway was fantastic value and the location couldn't be better. I will definitely stay there again and I am also curious to try the Dublin Hostel which is also in a great location. Overall a great experience which I'll recommend to friends and colleagues.

Hello! I've been for just one night in this hostel and when I just arrived, around 12 o clock, I could not use the toilet till 3 pm. That's very bad. Another thing is that in my opinion the internet shouldn't be charged, and even if it should,..the costumer should be awared when booking a night in the hostel. I stayed in the room number 200 and the shower was cold. Friendlier staff would be better as well. Hope u can improve your business.

The hostel was in a great location. Loads of pubs and restaurants and right next to the river and Galway Arts Centre. We couldn't check in until 3, so that meant coming back, but they were friendly enough to keep our bags behind the desk for free. The room was nice enough and pretty clean. Had a problem with the toilet actually breaking away from the floor. Cleanliness is great, but I would say maintenance is an issue at Barnacles.
