we had a great time some of us were over from the uk for the first time to Ireland and we cannot praise barnacles hostel enough :) one of the girls it was her birthday and one of the members of staff at barnacles (a blond man) organised a VIP and champagne reception in the stock exchange pub which made it that extra bit special. Thank you to all the staff in barnacles for making our stay a pleasant experience will recommend you highly :)

Great location and super helpful staff. The 12 bed dorm room is really spacious and well lit. Good kitchen, good vibes. Would def stay here again.

Barnacles: first Dublin, now Galway and yet again a very good stay at this hostel. Super centrally located in the middle of busy, little streets in Galway. Close to, yeap, everything. Nice breakfast, a little noisy in the 14-dorm, but we didn't mind. Friendly staff and easy to book your trips at the front desk. We certainly recommend staying at Barnacles!

Room was extremely hot and stuffy, even with window open all day and night. Window only opened about 3 inches.

Very friendly staff, good craic and great advice to be had from them. When I left my earrings in one of the 12 bed dorms I rang later that day and the staff posted them to me that evening. I really recommend this hostel.

We had an excellent time! It's so close to everything. We had the pleasure to stay in their private apartment behind the hostel for one night of our stay. We wished we had done all 3 in there. It's 3 stories tall and really makes u feel like u are residing in galway. The hostel is great too. Very clean and the staff is so helpful!

A nice hostel, a little bit noisy on the street side. Quies recommended!

Very central. The location is great. Hostel is clean and all the basics are covered. However if your room faces the main street be aware that there can be some music playing outside. But great experience overall

We enjoyed staying at the hostel. The location is the best thing about this hostel! The kitchen was great for cooking and was a good hangout area. The breakfast was pretty good. Beds were standard. Bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner.

Have stayed here 10 times and thinks that this is the best hostel in Galway. It's a bit cold in the rooms, but otherwise it's a great hostel.

Great hostel, but they do not allow alcohol on the premises, FYI.

Had a great time- very clean, very secure, awesome location (might be too loud for some). Breakfast was great, and included fruit and coffee! The one thing I missed was having a 24-hour common space. Definitely highly recommend this place though.

The hostel has a perfect location: in the middle of the main street plenty of bars and restaurants with live music. The room was a little bit small and the kitchen had only two tables so we had to had the breakfast on our feet!

Lovely hostel right in the middle of all the action! Step out the door and into the middle of lively galway - restaurants and pubs are at your fingertips while the riverbank is 5 mins walk away. We stayed in a four bed dorm which was clean and tidy, and provided locked cages for our bags. With the room overlooking the street it did become quite noisy - both party goers and the people cleaning up after the party goers - but we were able to sleep through it!

This place is awesome! Don't expect a quiet night as it's right on the party street and you will hear Irish singing late into the night. Thankfully they have earplugs available at the front desk for free! Only issue is when rolling out the storage bin, under the bottom bunk. If there is someone on the bottom bunk it is near impossible to pull out the bin. If you can pull it out the person on the bottom will bounce!!

my only negative was the floor area was minimal for 4 people & the area above one of the top bunk beds was tight as it was cut off by the sloped ceiling. Great spot though.
