Overall a great hostel option for Shanghai, only concern was the cleanliness of the toilets.
great hostel at a prime location near the bund. the common area is great for meeting other travelers and the staff were friendly and helpful.
This place was disappointing. Atmosphere was unfriendly and seems to be more of a place for the staff to hang out. We were accidently overcharged for our room. The guy who made the error called our room at 6am to correct it- he gave a guilt story about paying it us back of his own money. Was going to notify someone about this 6am hassle but all the staff seem preoccupied and inexperienced. Bathrooms in private rooms allow no privacy and room was not cleaned once during 6 night stay.
Lived in the private room, there were bed bugs visible. Couch did not look clean.
Nice, clean, well kept accommodations comparable to those of Chinese hotels that charge considerably higher prices. Friendly, helpful staff and great atmosphere.

Great location, good beds and tons of fun people! Definitely a big recommend to those wanting to do Shanghai on the cheap. Easy walk to People's Park and the metro.

Great place to stay! Would definitely go there again!
Quite possibly our favourite hostel that we stayed in China. The staff was helpful, the common areas were great, location was excellent (with short walks to Nanjing Rd and The Bund) but most of all the private room we booked was spacious and offered excellent views of the city.
This is a great located hostel, with a nice bar/common room area and great staff. There is no wifi outside of the bar area, and some rooms near the bar may be a little noisy up until 12 given the open nature of the layout of the building. TOP TIP - if you need to buy train tickets and are staying in this hostel, DON'T go to the train station ticket office because there a small outlet across the road from the hostel selling tickets with no queues! They do charge a small service fee (5RMB)
Very close to subway and shopping. Ok bathroom facilities. Nice roof top porch area.
Amazing hostel! Staff are friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. Toilets, showers and bedding were very clean. Access to a large locker in the dorm with your own padlock, so large bags and valuables easily stored. Was able my bags there for the day after I had checked out as my flight was in the evening. Located just off east nanjing road so easy to walk out for metro/food. Lovely atmosphere - colourful, cosy with a cheap bar and lots of places to sit and relax.
The atmosphere was pretty dull and boring, they didn't organise anything. My room was dark and dirty in the corner of the hostel. Staff could barely speak English and were more keen on talking among themselves than doing actual work. Overall a bit disappointing.

BEST hostel I've been to. stayed here twice now. best location, just off east nanjing road and 10 min walk from Bund. atmosphere here is great, met tons of friends. also the home is 'Crazy Georgie', a club promoter who will get you into the best places and get you bottomless free drinks. beds are soft. haven't tried the food. showers hot and facilities clean. get a dorm room between the #'s 601 and 605 if you can for an awesome view of the city skyline! this is the best hostel ever.
Can't beat the location for the price. Very accessible to East Nanjing Rd, People's Square and the Bun. Facilities are solid as well, although some rooms practically open right into the common bathroom area, which can be annoying if people are being loud out there.
Great staff and location, and easy enough to find. Minor detail but it would be nice to have a few more comfy chairs to sit on in the common room. BTW, the metered taxi from PVG airport at 2230h cost $Y175 and the driver had no problem finding the place using the map provided by the hostel.
Great communal areas with good facilities. Slow wi-fi, and a strange breakfast deal with nowhere to heat your own food. Small windowless private room but nice clean sheets. Paid way less through hostelworld than is advertised behind the front desk. Staff the usual hit and miss mix.
Great price for this amazing location just a few blocks off the Bund. The crowd skewed young- seemed like many early 20's people here, and there were many travelers. The comm
I had a really good four night stay at Blue Mountain. The location was easily accessible via subway and very close to the main tourist locations in Shanghai. The bar/social area is chilled and the staff were friendly and accommodating. One of the best features of this place was a promo girl called Georgie (who is a little crazy but fun). She would turn up and take groups of Western guests to local upmarket clubs. Entry to the bars and all the drinks were free! It makes no sense but lots of fun
