A very pleasant stay, this hostel is a safe bet if you're looking for an all rounder. 5 min walk from the Bund, close to some good local eats (just ask the staff), and not too far from East Nanjing Road. There's a communal area with computers, a cafe and a pool table, which can potentially provide an atmosphere. Rooms are clean and well stocked.

We 3 girls stayed for 2 nights and then again another one at Blue Mountain. Location is really good, very close to Nanjindong Lu and the subway station of the same name. Staff is nice and really helpful, even baidu-ed Shanghai Laolao for me. :D Got two different 3 bed rooms and they were both real great.

The double room was very small and the door of the bathroom was only separated from the bedroom by a glass door but i guess it is what you get for that cheap price in shanghai. There was a strong cigaret smell in the room when we arrived and it was not very clean, lots of dust. Otherwise, the staff was helpful and the location great, close from every sight and with everything you need around the hostel.

Convenient location - close to subway, and nice common area. Very helpful staff.

The Hostel was in a great location and the atmosphere here was excellent as the common room/dining area was well set up to allow people to meet and talk to one another. the hostel was full of students which made it more fun. A downside was no visible food menu and a limited amount of drinks, although we were able to bring food in from outside which was nice. It was very close to some great places to eat including street food. The hostel was clean throughout. www.amateurbackpackers.com

Staff were pretty friendly and helpful. Located just a few hundred metres from East Nanjing Road, and one of the more conveniently located youth hostels around Shanghai

Very polite staff and warm atmosphere. We were supposed to have a dorm room but we found out after arriving that the dorm beds had been overbooked, so the staff apologised and gave us a private room to share.

The hostel was great for what I needed - basically a bed at the time, but would not recommend for people on a tight budget or wanting to stay for a long time. There are no kitchen facilities and you are not permitted to eat outside food in the common area. Pro's about this place include the very friendly and helpful staff and the location is excellent, right down the road from the East Nanjing Road metro stop and around the corner from some great street stalls.

Super comfy couches in the lounge, lovely staff, BEST espresso coffee and hot chocolates made in the common room, comfy beds and nice showers. Only a small complaint - none of the dryers worked so I had to annoy my roommates a bit by hanging my clothes all over the dorm room. Oops! Tegan, Australia

Security- Store your valuables at the reception desk. Location- In the center of town. Staff- OK. Atmosphere- OK, but it seems to be a party hostel. Cleanliness- could have been better Value For Money- cheaper than a hotel. Facilities- Common area seems small for number of people, Hard to find a seat in common area, and my dorm room was small and cramped (this is compared to comparable hostels that Ive been to in China) Overall- Not a bad hostel, but Ive been to better ones.
