5 RMB for a bottle of Nong Fu water in Shanghai is ridiculous. Other hostels in Shanghai charge 2 RMB and will allow you to drink water from outside in their bars etc.

very friendly staff in tending to all ur needs! 1st downside is lack of shower rooms for 220+ onwards, wud be inconvenient if I had to wait for other tenants occupying the ONLY shower room doing their laundry, I also had problems with their toilets, 2nd downside is the wireless Internet access which is ONLY available in the common room and not your booked rooms.. other than that, I loved the environment and the location, supper convenient right opposite the metro line 4, dezmond@ymail.com ;)

The rooms were clean and had a good standard for a hostel. The staff was helpful and spoke English, what ist not always common in Chinese hotels. The location near a metro station made it easy to explore Shanghai. The points that we disliked were: 1st the noise due to the street and the common rooms. 2nd the atmosphere which was not very social, a lot of people only looking at their laptops.

After a small mix up with the booking on arrival (partly our fault) everything was excellent. There was a small problem with the toilet flushing in our room... My favorite hostel out of three that I stayed in on my trip.

The staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome at blue mountain. The food they serve was tasty and at reasonable price. The place was clean. It wasn't the best backpacker hostel to be in but was nice. I found a lot of the people staying there either worked in Shanghai or were studying so a different kind of atmosphere but still good. Also across the street was the subway station so easy to get to places, there was a shop and a handful of cheap and tasty restaurants so defo stay again

I've stayed at 5 or 6 hostels in Shanghai in the last three years... this one, while fairly clean and relatively quiet, doesn't stand out as a top choice. Its in a slightly random location, albeit in close proximity to a subway station, and is just sorta 'meh' overall.

I enjoyed my stay here. There are many locals and expats that stay here and the atmosphere is nice. Dorms are spacious and unlike other hostels in Shanghai have plenty of light. The Metro line is literally across the road, a 20 second walk away.

Great hostel! Warm, clean, friendly. The staff were extremely helpful and the location is conveniently located nearby the subway, putting you in easy access of Shanghai. The area is also nice to just walk around and explore.

The facilities are very new and the staff are very friendly. It is just right at the metro station so it is very convenient to go around many places. I strongly recommend this place to all the visitors and travelers.

39 persons in our group is not easy to manage us to stay together but Blue Mountain Luwan can do. We're very lucky for such a nice place near MRT, fresh market and a lot of fruit shops. This is a warm place you can find it. We're also sorry for making loud noise after 11 pm. sorry and hope to see you again.

Absolutely awesome location, and a nice hostel. A few more permanent residents than travelers staying at the hostel, it seemed, but they were all cool people. Pretty much everything was just what it needed to be. The shower in particular was a welcome relief, as it did not require fiddling with to work properly and it was not in the same room as a toilet. Not the greatest hostel bar of all time, but as I said, I still got to meet cool people pretty easily. Overall, would stay again.

When we just came, administrator said that our room is already busy, so we had to live in room with one bed for first 2 days (we booked room with 2 beds). Rooms are very nice, clean, there are everything what you need. But it was very cold! We slept in out clothes, water also wasn't hot enough. Atmosphere in bar was really friendly and cozy)) But wifi is only in bar, which closing at 1 a.m. Location is perfect! Just near metro station

Thank you, it was great staying there. We love to exercise every morning, so if there would be a common space for that, it would be perfect!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Because it was the holidays there was no food service and you can't eat or drink outside purchases in the common area, which happens to be the only place where you can use the internet. No kitchen ware was vailable to cook for yourself. It was cold. The doors to the outside were left open and many other doors also providing no insulation whatsoever. There were no heaters on either so we felt chilled to the bone mostly when we were hanging in the common.

The hostel was good, clean and in a good location in Shanghai. The subway is literally across the street which is an added bonus. The only downside was that there wasn't any wifi access in the rooms themselves. On the other hand wifi was available in the common room which was stocked complete with everything from a pool table to board games. It was also a great place to meet fellow travelers. The hostel also had a resident cat that roamed the common room which was nice!

I normally don't comment on hostels a lot, but it needs to be said: Blue Mountain hostel in Shanghai made my stay in Shanghai unforgettable. Very clean rooms, very efficient room cleaning, good showers with non-stop hot water, a cosy relaxing room with pool table and plenty of movies to choose from, board games etc, extremely quiet but right across from subway for easy access to anywhere in Shanghai. In short: excellent value for money.
