Absolutely awesome location, and a nice hostel. A few more permanent residents than travelers staying at the hostel, it seemed, but they were all cool people. Pretty much everything was just what it needed to be. The shower in particular was a welcome relief, as it did not require fiddling with to work properly and it was not in the same room as a toilet. Not the greatest hostel bar of all time, but as I said, I still got to meet cool people pretty easily. Overall, would stay again.

Thank you, it was great staying there. We love to exercise every morning, so if there would be a common space for that, it would be perfect!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Because it was the holidays there was no food service and you can't eat or drink outside purchases in the common area, which happens to be the only place where you can use the internet. No kitchen ware was vailable to cook for yourself. It was cold. The doors to the outside were left open and many other doors also providing no insulation whatsoever. There were no heaters on either so we felt chilled to the bone mostly when we were hanging in the common.

The hostel was good, clean and in a good location in Shanghai. The subway is literally across the street which is an added bonus. The only downside was that there wasn't any wifi access in the rooms themselves. On the other hand wifi was available in the common room which was stocked complete with everything from a pool table to board games. It was also a great place to meet fellow travelers. The hostel also had a resident cat that roamed the common room which was nice!

I normally don't comment on hostels a lot, but it needs to be said: Blue Mountain hostel in Shanghai made my stay in Shanghai unforgettable. Very clean rooms, very efficient room cleaning, good showers with non-stop hot water, a cosy relaxing room with pool table and plenty of movies to choose from, board games etc, extremely quiet but right across from subway for easy access to anywhere in Shanghai. In short: excellent value for money.

- the receptionist wasn't trainned (the one I met when I first arrived at 3.30am on 31 Dec 2011), she was unfriendly and no welcome feeling - the heater needed to take 30 mins to warm up - the water for shower was not warm enough - the location of the hostel was even difficult to find for taxi driver

Staffs there is very nice. When I carry a big luggage, they actively help me take it. The environment there is quite good with reasonable price. Also, the location of this hostel is good! You can take a walk to the Metro for 1 min only. There are many shop selling breakfast with cheap price nearby the hostel.

The hostel was in a great location, just next to the metro line and also in a nice area to explore. I was in a room with three girls who work in Shanghai so it didn't really have the traveller feel to it as they treated the hostel as their home. Staff were very friendly and it was kept nice and tidy. A nice place for a short stay.

There are many domestic lodgers from China and they are the worst behaved. They seem like a tour group. One guy in his twenties walked along the corridor in his very translucent and flimsy underwear and spat on the floor. Another in his 30s, was talking at the top of his lungs until 3am with his friends in the lobby. He got louder as the night progresses. Staff didn't do much and some night staffers does not speak English and are rude. Mold in the shower cubicles.

Nice and helpful staff but not so fun activities... people in the lounge area are often minding their own business. It's close to a convenience store and train station, and a market for breakfast, main street for buses. The aircon could've been stronger. Toilets and shower rooms are okay. **No wifi in the room! Have to go to lounge**
