This was my first time staying at a hostel so I didnt really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised how nice this place is. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm, the bed was fine, it was clean and very nice atmosphere. Its close to the station to get to all the popular places so a very convenient place to say. All in all I could be happier and for the price! Absolute bargain! Definitely would stay again!

great rooms, good location, no bad comments
We booked a double ensuite and twins ensuite. The double ensuite was ok although the bathroom floor flooded each time we took a shower. The twin room where our friends stayed had visible mold growing in the corner. We asked Andy at the front desk for a different room and he switched to the room next door which also had mold. When we mentioned that the mold was still a problem his reply was "This is China, there is mold everywhere". Our friends ended up with sore throats from breathing mold.

Staff where rude while we were checking in. Half way through checking me and another guy in, they started helping someone else and then someone else had to come finish our check in. Then never told us our room numbers and looked at us as if we should know it and then wrote on a card, which we couldn't really make out any way, 2 other staff then re-wrote it as they couldn't read it. Bar staff where rude when trying to order food. Both me and someone else got ill from eating the bar food.
I always stay at this hostel when I go to Shanghai. I usually stay at the en-suite rooms (whether for 2 or 4 people), it's still an excellent hostel overall but lately the bathrooms smell really bad, I even need to buy my own bathroom odor/perfume.
The staff was really helpful, all spoke English very well. The hostel is located a bit away from the main tourist sights, but it's very close to the subway, so everything is within easy reach. The rooms were spacious and clean, the mattresses not too hard and not too soft, and it was very quiet at night. I can definitely recommend staying there and will do so myself on my next visit to Shanghai.
It would be nice if the internet was better, it was not available in the rooms, only in the lobby.

We stayed here for three nights. Beds were really nice and room was very clean. The staff was really friendly since they helped us with figuring out the trains for the rest of our trip. The bar is really cozy and it's nice to sit there. Cheap belgian beer was an extra for us since we are from Belgium. Prices for food and other drinks could be lower tho. But with the low room prices I can understand.
Out the way of the centre , but once you find the metro your away, Very friendly people,
Free breakfast is cancelled since 1 July 2013, but still good value. Spacious and clean, nice staff, easy access to Metro Line 3/4/11. Ridiculous rule that "Chinese can't book dorm bed" is also gone. Great! Will stay again.
So good i booked here again after spending a couple nights elsewhere. And the value 35RMB cant be beat
This hostel has recently changed ownership. The new owner has eliminated all the perks and jacked up the prices on things like drinks.Almost Western prices most of the beer in the bar now, and there is no more free breakfast. Before, the distant location of the hostel from major sights was partially balanced by the free breakfast every morning. Now that this perk is gone, there really isn't a reason to stay at a hotel this far out.Dropin dorm room rate is now 80 - be warned! Also - awful wifi!
Perfect stay. Always again!!!
Nice, basic, clean, good value for money. Overall a nice stay! Subway quite close, easy to get around - this is maybe 15min ride away from the Bund, so not 'centrally' located. Only weird thing was that the room rates seemed to vary from day to day, but usually to your advance ;) Would recommend, not a party hostel tho. Prices normal, meaning quite high vs streetfood/local eateries.
Good location to meet people. No WiFi in room. Pretty good overall
I booked a single room for a night after a 10 hours flight. The room was immaculate, with a very nice comfortable bed, nice bathroom with hot water. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I managed to meet other travellers in the bar area. Location wise is not the most central hostel, but all the rest is spot on!
staff was wonderful, thank you. very clean&cozy as well. only gave an average for facilities because it would have been really great if the wireless was available in the rooms .. it was only available in the lobby. and was extremely slow. i think it is an investment worth making, people really care about their wireless, probably more than they should.
The location within walking distance to subway. But there is no local restaurant or convenience store around the hostel. The place is huge and less intimate to talk with other fellow traveler. Share toilet and bathroom is often smell bad.
Nice bar and lobby, rooms clean and comfortable, location a bit out of the way.
Helpful and friendly staff. Good room service.
