City Central International Hostel Reviews

Had a great stay. The staff were extremely helpful and helped us so much for the duration of our stay. The room (loft family room) was beautiful and very spacious. Like a lot of places in Asia, it did need a decent scrub down and some new towels. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and we had no security issues- nor did we ever feel unsafe. I would definitely stay at City Central again.

the hostel is not clean. got bites over my body, often felt the itch. atmosphere is ok, but far from stunning. location sucks, because it's far from the center. you loose lot of time only with the metro. shops in the neighborhood are ok. the hostel is not sympatic to me. turned out they hooked us up with a taxi that wannted us to pay him although we paied the hostel in advanced for the ride to the airport!

Pretty good, place, great location, Near tienanmin and in a hutong, plenty of great food optiosn around, staff were always helpful and pleasent. A bit noisy some morning with the handiman fixing things. I would return here for sure.

Overall it was a good stay. The bathrooms tend to smell and more work could be done to keep them clean. Im by no means a picky traveler, however if you walk by the bathroom you shouldn't be able to smell it. If i was to visit Shanghai again, I would try my luck at another hostel.

it's just ok.

At the time of my visit I found a fair number of cockroaches in the bar area, was expected. Guy working at the bar was unattentative. Had to remind him twice of having placed an order (did arrive after more than two hours), and he let other guests cut in line. Witnessed some arguements between staff and guests. No matter what the issue is, never ever get into an arguement with customers. Girl at the reception was in tears and couldn't help me (can't blame her for that) Some staff helpful though.

Hostel itself was fine and very close to the subway. Wish it was a little closer to the center of town.

Great hostel!!! Very good location, quite close to the station, free breakfast included (nice) !! all in all good value, didn`t want to leave (:
