The previous comment I left was for another hostel...sorry. But this hostel..is not in the city of Venice itself, mind you. The staff are not that helpful and wifi sucks except in the reception area. The facilities are decent (Bedroom, bathroom). Unfortunately I came during a heat wave and it was uncomfortable with only fans in the room.
I didn't realize it is NOT in the city Venice itself...I had a hard time finding it at first, but after, it was easy.it didn't have the best atmosphere, But it had decent facilities (bedrooms, bathrooms, terrace). Unfortunately, I was there during the heat wave and I could not sleep at night because there is only one fan for 5 beds (2 of them being bunkbeds and I was on top). But the main lady there is pretty nice, gives you good directions for nearby supermarket and buses into the city Venice.
Good location for 50.-. I dont understand why they didnt clean our room tidely but all in all is was an acceptable stay.

Pros- The staff was really nice, and the location was really good- right next to the train station so it was easy to find. Cons- Wifi didn't really work that well at all and kept cutting out every minute and the bathroom smelled absolutely horrid though.
Hotel Giovannia is the worst place we've EVER stayed. Upon arrival the creepy guy at the front desk suggested there were other ways to pay then with money! As three females we were made extremely uncomfortable. When we left the room to get dinner we were told we were not allowed to take our room key with us incase of a fire because he would need to check all the rooms?!?! When I protested about this the same guy told me to 'go f$
The best thing about the hotel is the location. Near the Venezia Mestre station, you only need to take a train to Venizia Santa Lucia station to get to the main island of Venice. The internet connection could be better and the bathroon is really tiny, but besides this I highly recommend this hotel.
Double standard staff - talk different story to different people, eg: the avaibility of credit card for payment Hot and stuffy in room I was told to checkin after 1pm but I saw people checkin at 12pm I left my luggage at reception, which is quite an open area, felt unsecured, seems like everyone can take it away in anytime
This place is easy to get to Venice nu Mestere to Santa Lusia, just only 50 meters walk. but for the price we have to pay, there should be more, like the worst thing here is shower room is so small, light inside the room is not enough, wifi worked only in reception area. If it is about 15 Euro would be perfect ^^
It is close to train station to then get back to Venice island. Staff were unfriendly when first checked in, however when left they were very helpful. There was no atmosphere as is basiclly a hotel not a hostel. It was fairly clean and okay value seeing as it is venice.
We arrived before check-in time and our room wasn't ready so we were told just to leave our luggage at reception, it was just out in the open not behind the desk our anything. We asked if our luggage would be put in our room when it was ready and the guy said no, so it didn't feel very safe leaving our stuff there... The guy on reception wasn't very friendly. The room was fine but very hot at night and there was a lot of noise from outside. The bathroom wasn't too clean. Ok for one night.
The staff was quite rude. The room was uncomfortably hot. Wi-Fi didn't really work at all. And the walk there from the station although short was quite creepy.
This hostel is in Mestre, really near Venice. Is a good option if you only want to spend a day in Venice, is cheaper, and the train station is only one block away.
Actually, I found a cockroach and a spider in my room...
The room was pretty small, and the behavior of the staff not that great. The surrounding was noisy. Only pro is that it's close to Mestre.
the place was nice and clean, but would of been nice to have had a kitchen or something.
There is not really a place to hang out in the hostel other than a few chairs at reception, so this is not a good place to meet anybody. The location is very close to the Mestre train station but still it would be better if it were on the island of Venice. If you are making a quick stop in Venice and there are two or more people travelling together, then this place will do as somewhere to sleep... but only that.
TV in the room could have been working and the bathroom was quite small but the staff were friendly and helpful

When we arrived to this "hotel" there was a guy whose customer service abilities were really poor. Entering the room was awful. The smell of something rotten was so strong that we both almost had to throw up. We were about to complain about it, but then there came some people to the room opposite us and told us that the guy in the reception told them to change hotel if they don't accept their room. No way to change it. The rooms one floor down from us didn't smell. Never again!!!

Take a good shower is quite difficult . The water stay 10 seconds hot and the other 10 seconds very cold. Take a shower is really terrible. When I arrived there, the staff was friendly but the next day, the other staff was so stupid. His face was sad and angry all the time.
