Kahumana cafe was excellent - we enjoyed our dinner! I wish we could have some of those fresh farm eggs for breakfast, though :) Overall we were very pleased with our stay - it's great value for the money. The only reason I gave location an average is not so much for the surrounding area but for the particular location of our room (#4) where all the windows face the road, making it very noisy day and night.

This place is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Oahu. It allows you to enjoy the beauty of the island away from the crowds of tourists and vacation home goers. It is a bit out of the way so it's probably best to rent a car, however there was a bus that occasionally ran by. Great place to stay on Oahu!

Lovely place to stay. Felt like I discovered hidden jewel. Doesn't show up in some hostel searches. They have a wonderful cafe where meals are made from the organic farm they run. Beautiful soulful people running the place.

This is a beautiful hostel and well worth the money. You can also easily get public transport from the airport ($2.50 compared to $40 on the shuttle). Great place to see a different part of Hawaii with great food

I stayed one day more than what I expected because the place is great and the food spectacular. Unfortunately the cafe closes Sunday and Monday. My suggestion is that the cafe open 7 days or that the guest be made aware of this issue at booking.

Overall this is a lovely spot just minutes from the beach. It is a farm though so be warned the roosters start making noise at 4 a.m. Were disappointed that the pool was closed while we were there. Nothing about the pool being closed (seasonally?) was posted on the website. The walls are VERY thin and wifi is spotty and cut out many times. Overall cleanliness was ok but the bathrooms need some light bulbs and the eating area could use a kettle. Free breakfast was oatmeal and toast every morn.

As it says on the site, you'll need a car. Otherwise, it's awesome - quiet and very clean. Good breakfast, cool people. Can't beat the price. Recommend highly.

This place is absolutely perfect, except for it's location. If you are looking to just relax, go to the beach and eat well on your Hawaiian holiday, this is the place. If you want to see the sights and drive around the island, Kahumana is very far for that. But the place is absolutely gorgeous and sure, you can drive easily to the center of the island (it just takes some time). Facilities would be perfect if they'd add a water heater to the common room!

This is a great secret getaway spot in the agricultural area outside Honolulu. Magnificent in every way: great clean and comfortable accommodations, great gardens, great panoramic view of hawaiin incredible mountains, great staff and wonderful food in the cafe. Quiet, peaceful......a peek at another side of hawaian culture. Don't hesitate!

I really liked this place. When I booked my trip to Oahu I knew I did not want to stay in town because I want something peaceful; I definitely found that with Kahumana. Waking up to a view of the mountains instead of high rises was exactly what I was looking for. The staff was great, very accommodating and friendly and worked with all of the guests to make sure we were comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great relaxing place on Oahu. Steve

The Kahumana Community Centre is an amazing place to stay. Here you will find a relaxing ambiance, in a gorgeous, tropical setting; clean, quiet rooms, and friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It's a little off the beaten track, but that's what makes it so special. If you have a car, it's an affordable, majestic place to base yourself. The fresh, organic, food they serve, with ingredients from their own farm is out of this world delicious, at very reasonable prices.

As mention before, there is no info about checking in late. The directions to location were not up to date due to road closing. No way of contacting anyone after 4 PM. The food was good and reasonable. No information about touring farm. The cost was very reasonable. If traveling to Honolulu, the Hostel is a 1 hr to 1 1/2 hour trip depending on traffic and type of conveyance. Great place to see west side of island and get away from crowded tourist areas.

I enjoyed my stay here - a real chance to see the real Oahu! I would recommend they let people know how to get to the community center on local busses (not everyone gets a hire car), as that is how I got there! Bus 40 or 'C' from Honolulu to Waianae bus interchange, then bus 402 (10 mins) which stops directly out the front of the center. Worth the effort. Cafe was excellent - absolutely delicious using home-grown produce.

For me, this was a perfect place to stay. Bear in mind that I was looking for a quiet, remote, out-of-the-way place that didn't cost a fortune & this was it! Set on a large farm, the facility is basic, but clean, with shared bathrooms, which are kept very clean. Yes there are bugs...it's Hawaii! Deal with it. The beds are comfy, the rooms clean & modern, the staff very helpful. I had a car, which was great, but TheBus goes out that way.

Off the beaten track, but great if you want to escape busy Honolulu for a while. Nice beaches close by, but not many eating or nightlife options. This place is purely for relaxation! And you'll need a car to get there. Rooms are spartan, but cosy and very, very clean. Everything's made of wood, very green. A continental breakfast was included in rate and served in the cafe in the morning. Wifi was free of charge and worked very well. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thank you again!
