The room was quite dirty. I would wake up early every morning as there is no sound proofing; I could clearly hear people walking and talking quite a distance down the corridor. The waiters in the upstairs restaurant wouldn't bring menus or cutlery or take my order the three times I went there. I speak Chinese so it was not a language issues. The food in the upstairs restaurant is very low quality.

Not a hostel.... Just a large hotel that they put extra beds in some rooms to turn them into dorms. Walking into the fancy entrance with a big backpack was uncomfortable. The saving grace is a great location down the road from the forbidden city and the square, but no social atmosphere and the top floor restaurant and bar is expensive. Internet and wifi can only be accessed in the bar and Internet room. Stay here for one night to see the sights then go somewhere else.

The hostile behaviour from the staff working in the level 6 bar and wifi room, which has the atmosphere of an airport smoking room, was shocking, especially in a city such as Beijing with such fierce competition between the many hostels. The wifi is essentially non existant, don't expect to be able to use it. The information centre is a travel agency, they are not there to help, and wont. The rooms are ok, but if atmosphere is important, walk around the corner and find another place.

In many ways this was a very good budget hotel. It is located very close to Tiananmen Square. It is quiet and the staff are efficient. It has a good tour and travel booking facility. The one thing that could have improved it is if you didn't have lots of black marks on the walls of the hotel rooms. I had two stays here and more than one room could have done with a lick of paint or at the least some scrubbing.

Common room up near the bar good for relaxing, but more hotelish than like a hostel. Great location for Tiananmen sq and 2 stops from Beijing train station and lots of places to eat around. For the price I would stay again.

Breakfast not very appealing to Westerners. Room nice and clean but stains on the wall and ceiling. Staff very nice and helpful. Booked matiayu tour from here, very good. Location brilliant...close to hutongs, tiannamen square, forbidden city and quianmen underground. Road is quite noisy outside.top bar very nice food And chilled atmosphere with great views of Beijing

This was a fine hostel to stay at for a couple days. Nothing fancy and the staff were a bit short, but otherwise everything was fime and clean about this place. The upstairs bar and lounge was a good touch.

We checked out after having spent a few nights in the KJIH on a Saturday morning for a two days trip to the wall, with having made a reservation for another 4 nights. When we arrived late at Sunday evening the Receptionist and the MoD told us, that they can’t check us in, because we had just copies of our passports and the visa. Needless to say that a nearby hotel accepted the same copies.as the King’s Joy H. had it. If you want to feel like a real guest we wouldn't recommend going there!!!

Everything was really great! The staff took good care of us. This place is excellent value for money. One small thing: the service at the bar was quite slow. There were only 6 of us in the bar and we waited 25 min for breakfast (and were late for the trip to the Great Wall)

Impressive Service - second to none. The hot water in our room was not working. I was impressed that someone looked into the issue and fixed it as soon as I raised the matter to the reception. The hotel organized a taxi for us from hotel to the airport. When we arrived at the airport, I was pleasantly surprised that someone from the hotel met us and carried our luggages and showed as the way to the departure lounge - what a service.

I like this hostel and have stayed here multiple times because of it's good location (close to Tian an men and the center of Beijing) and also because of the cleanliness of the whole place. Sometimes the staff are not all that friendly but there are a few at the front desk who are more kind and helpful. I would recommend this place to people in the future.

Rooms were good, but the 'hostel' was on the upper floors of the hotel, and the lower floors seemed to be used exclusively for Chinese tour groups. This was not a problem, apart from the fact that you didn't get to see new arrivals coming through the communal area as in other (good) hostels (which is a great way to meet people). The bar area was on the top floor with great views and good food, but the staff were not good, spoke very little English and there was no atmosphere.

The position is great!Just 2 minutes walk from Tien 'an men square! It is clean and cheep. But the wifi connection didn't work so well and we could just use it at 6th floor and not in the whole building. There were not lookers in the room, so we used the luggage store at the front desk, safety but annoying. However, the overall impression is positive.

I took a private room for two nights there. It was not really a hostel but more like a hotel. For my private room, it was a pleasant stay, with a very clean room and toilet. However, there was no wifi available. Only a LAN connection. Besides, it is located quite close to subway station & forbidden city.

The location is good and no doubt the rooms are kept clean. But hey, the staff is unfriendly to say the least (and utterly rude and un-cooperative to say it all). If you don't need to deal with the staff at all, then it's a good choice. Otherwise, truly look for one of the hostels nearby (they may not be as professionally clean as this one but they're all way more helpful and frinedly than this one
