This place offers "hotel" accomadation at hostel prices but, really other than the lobby it's no better (in fact worse) than most hostels. The dorm we had was dank, dark and damp - we left with damp clothes - and they're poorly laid out. The bathroom sucks and doesn't have a lock. The lobby has fast PCs with good internet. Wifi very poor/non-existent in dorm, strong outside and in lobby.
This is very clean hostel. It has shiny tile floor, good and clean mattress and bedsheet. But there is not space to hang clothes to dry. Good breakfast.
Excellent location. Clean room. Staff couldn't be more courteous and helpful. Provided free (and good) map. They gave us recommended routes to take ourselves around the city and helped us book two very good tours, which we needed to juggle dates around with- they were more than happy to sort that out for us too. Perfect for people who have just arrived in Vietnam. Great pool and movie room for meeting other travellers also. Would highly recommend. Breakfast could be better, but free, so fine.
Great hostel for the price in a great location. Dorms were clean and comfortable. Movie/games room great after a long day exploring.
Amazing as usual - been here since nearly 2 years ago and the place is still impressive. have no desire to try any other hostel... other than the fact that they still make you buy a lock to lock your things.
Great location in old quarter, you pay for what you get and the private room was exactly that, no frills but a standard private room. Breakfast was slightly appalling, however, there is plenty of fantastic food on your door step. Word of warning, they have a tour agency located in the lobby, my partner and I wanted to organise a trip to Halong Bay, they were VERY friendly and provided us with a price DOUBLE what we were offered on the street by a local agency. Felt wary of them after this.

My dad and I stayed in a twin room and found it to be clean and well equipped. The location was perfect for us and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a great introduction to hostels for my dad who was previously a little unsure.
A great hotel right in the heart of the old quarter. The dorm room was clean and had a locker for each bed (padlock not included). with the buffet breakfast it was excellent value for money. The staff were extremely helpful, arranging our tour of halong bay and organising our trains to sapa. They looked after our bags on the tours and offered us showers on our return, and made sure we got a taxi to the train station on our departure. A great stay!
Really great hostel! Would recommend to anyone. Ultra modern facilities and a great atmosphere. Definitely the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in.
More like a hotel than a hostel -comfortable beds, breakfast included. An excellent value for money, though shop around for tours -you'll definitely get them cheaper elsewhere.
I chose to stay at May De Ville after being dissuaded from staying at Hanoi backpackers by friends who live in Hanoi. For me this was the right choice, it's not an alcohol fuelled place, but it's a clean friendly base in an excellent location for amazing value. Only negatives were that the wifi did not extend the full the length of the dorm and some people would prefer a lock on the bathroom doors. Have recommended to all friends journeying up to Hanoi.
When I first checked in I paid for my room in advance. The clerk did not want to give me a receipt for the money, which the night clerk at first refused to provide a receipt. I insisted that one be provided. When I checked out, the hotel tried to charge me again until the manager saw my receipt. The maids take the towels rented out when hung out to dry and the guests have to pay a fine when they can't return the towels.
This hotel seemed like a 4 star hotel at very reasonable prices. We would definitely stay again.
Good wifi connection. Good location. Helpful advice re tours in tour desk. Nice breakfast, although staff werent great in the here, very slow and not enthusiastic. Didnt accept visa for remainder of payment. This is a common theme in all hostels booked on hostel world. It means you gave to withdraw cash and pay extra bank fees.
A brilliant place to stay. It looks like a real posh hotel. Really swanky looking. The dorms were ensuite and the price was absolutely amazing. Really friendly staff with good english. Wifi and internet. My mates couldnt believe it when i stopped in there with them and told them how much i was paying. Not as kicking as the backpacker hostel so if you are looking for a party atmosphere then this isnt the spot. But if you want a nice, well maintained, well located place for cheap its the one
If you don't mind the lack of atmosphere this place is fantastic value for money, you get hotel facilities and huge buffet breakfast all for $5 a night. Strangely, if you stay for longer than 7 days the price rises to $10. Took me a while to work out why this would be but am fairly sure it's so they can get backpackers in and then sell them tours at overinflated prices so if you're planning to do Ha Long/Sapa definitely worth shopping around before buying from reception. Would still recommend.
We had the most AMAZING private room for only $11 each. Never seen such a nice room for that price. Plus the rest of the hostel was very clean and the staff were helpful. It's also right in the middle of the Old Quarter, which is nice.
The room quality is like a 3 - 4 star hotel, but the bathroom did smell kinda bad. Maybe they just need better ventilation.
Very nice hostel in a great location in the Old Quarter. Great game/entertainment room and staff was really helpful in booking a cruise to Halong Bay (go for two nights!). Only complaint is that the bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner. Nothing gross, just needed some attention!
