We stayed 3 days at this place. We choosed it for the location and it was a good choice for that. reason. We had a double-bed room with a private bathroom. We had enough space in the room but it was dark because there was no sufficient lightning, The furniture was hold, and the hot water was not avalable almost all the time. The staff spoke english well but they couldn't help us much. The contact was not to inviting. We wouldn't return to this hotel mostly because of its location.

Great hostel, great location, really good value for money so close to the center of Shanghai. I would definitely stay here again. Even had comfy beds! The only negative I would mention was the breakfast. Didn't have time to explore Shanghai for breakfast so ate from hostel. Breakfast was cheap but not great quality. The baked beans were stone cold!!

Staff rude and unhelpful. Dirty, no lights, and the kitchen and laundry facilities were seriously lacking. Location was a five minute walk from Peoples Square and the metro line.

We booked it because of the Location, which is really excellent. BUT there is no real kitchen, it doesn't even deserve that name. The staff always occupied it, there were no dishes to even eat your own food. The WIFI is simple HORRIBLE, we tried to book flights for our next destination but simply couldn't do it. The common area looks super nice, but again : You are not allowed to bring and eat your own food, but where to eat when the kitchen is always occupied? Staff played pool, maps cost15RMB

The common areas of the hostel are great. Good food, pool table, plenty of seating, and wifi. Unfortunately the wifi didn't work in the dorm room. This is also the first hostel I've stayed in that didn't have a free tourist map - you'd have to pay 15RMB. Also, three girls were living in my room, so that was a bit weird and their belongings were kind of everywhere. Easy to get to the subway which takes you anywhere in the city.

We really loved this place, location was excellent, restaurant was good value for the money, just awesome!👏

WiFi was very bad in the room and ok at the bar.

Do NOT PAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION to negative visitor's comments about "lighting, staff, and mosquitos"......you are all doing very well.....And, for the price, people should NOT expect VERY much more.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We look forward you to welcome you to stay at our hostel again!

Spacious dorm and wonderful common area! Except for Snow, staff's English could use some improvement.

I'm sorry for all these misunderstandings. The security only can allow the people in who has been regerstered at the reception. And the hostel cannot have any visitors afte 23:00. He found out there is only one person has regerstered in the room you were staying then refused the other people with you to get into the hostel. The security didn't do anything wrong. But we are really sorry that we couldn't have anyone to do the explaination or check-in for your friend at time.

Great hostel location near peoples square and about 5 min walking distance to the metro station. However the place does not feel like a hostel with a lot of chinese people staying in there on a semi-permanent basis. Also some of them smoke in the rooms. Further it is quite noisy in the thin-walled rooms as the staff which also sleeps in the hostel gets up at around 6am. In summary, come for the prices and location (both excellent).

Thank you for your comments. We are "sorry" that we have "a lot of" Chinese people staying here. And we are sorry bout the thin-walled rooms, sorry that we never have a chance to renovate the building after 1906, cause the land lord never allowed. Further, there is no staff stay in the hostel. We just start work early morning, we are sorry about that too.

My room mate arrived at 1:30 in the morning. He had to work late, and didn't make it by 9, as planned. The overnight receptionist refused to admit my roommate (even though I had paid for two people). There are no facilities for arrivals after 11 PM, even if you've paid for the room/bed.

Morning staff who work at the front office they don't speak english. Staff in general there not so friendly. Wifi signal so poor. Sheets were broken everywhere and too used.

The hostel is in a great location for visiting all key sites in the city and it is a real positive to be right next to people's square. However, because of the location the hostel is actually used as a semi-permanent residence by a number of young Chinese people working in the city - which created a very different atmosphere to other hostels I have stayed in - less traveller friendly. The hostel serves its purpose but could do with some modernising throughout.

Thank you for your useful comments, would you please give us more improvement suggestions via Email?

We had a room with a double bed and it was great. Aircon, kettle, tv, towels. We really enjoyed our stay :)

Great location, easy to find and close to the metro - room basic, but nice. Bar area very nice with koi pond, food there was also nice and good value (breakfasts were good value and filling). Staff member on checkout and check in was great, very friendly - male staff member on the desk some evenings rude and unhelpful however. Overall English ability of staff was good, and we didn't have any trouble at all. Great hostel!

Thank you for letting us konw the shortcomings. Welcome again.

We stayed on two occasions in two different rooms. The first was quiet and well lit while the second room was extremely noisy all night and poorly lit. The common area and restaurant portion of the hostel is amazing. The food is delicious and affordable while the seating is very comfortable! There's even a very cuddly cat! Great place to take a day to relax. Excellent location, very helpful staff. Would stay here again, but would specify which room I wanted (second floor, not on street).

When i arrived i was very tired and the staff was not very nice, So i did not get a good first impression of this place. It was not very social, but a bit social, I meet some cool people during my stay here. The rooms were big with big lockers, and a nice restaurant to hang out in, but the food was not so good.

Great location and excellent layout of hostel. Nice but overpriced bar/restaurant is a great indoor/outdoor location. I'll definitely stay here again. Five minute walk from metro. Ten minute walk to Nanking road. Very helpfull staff and front desk.

It's a beautiful hostel located in one of the oldest streets of the city. The main hall is very confortable.

Overall the hostel is well situated (close to the People's Park metro) and has nice facilities, but some of the staff isn't the friendliest or most helpful. Also, the air conditioner is a huge problem since the staff controls it and sometimes won't turn it on when requested...or don't speak english enough to understand the request. Finally, the kitchen facilities are little lacking, as there is a very small fridge and barely any kitchenware.
