its a nice place, in people square so its easy to just walk around, close to the metro which is helpful!.. the lighting is very dim even in the rooms (the 8 bed mixed was the one i was in), and the common room/cafe/bar closes at 12 which is a little annoying, but there is a small area outside which stays open. overall it was a nice place to stay!

After trying a number of hostels in Shanghai, I think this has the most character. The staff are hit and miss, with some very helpful and some indifferent, but that is almost to be expected as hospitality is not Shanghai's strongpoint. I stayed in a double room on 1st floor. Window couldn't close, which was fine as it kept bathroom smell at bay. Had to keep heater on, but was warm enough. Bar / common room was cosy and breakfast was quite good. Amazingly quiet at night considering the location.

It was way too cold!! the community area is not heated well and u really don't feel comfortable in such a cold atmosphere. the room had only 1 tiny light at the entrance, too dark to feel welcome. no breakfast, no kitchen. i would not recommend it (i changed to the blue mountain, and it's a lot nicer!)

When it is raining, please ensure better non-slip mats. After it finished raining, you did not remove them (despite the other surfaces being dry) and I slipped on a wet mat!
