Too small the bathroom is. I can't find any drinking water in this hostel. I found several burnt holes on my beddings Worst hostel experience ever.

Great hostel, great value. The location couldn't be better for sightseeing in central Shanghai, and it's only two blocks or so from Metro Line 2 running to both airports. The staff are friendly, there are nice common areas (including a kitchen), and my dorm room was pleasant. Like most budget hostels, there were occasionally minor issues with the facilities. Mostly Korean/Chinese/Japanese travelers, making communication more challenging, but I'm sure that mix changes throughout the year.

The staff were rude and unhelpful, first I thought it might have just been the language barrier that made me think this however as our trip continued they were very rude and unhelpful. The staff and wifi at other hostels were so much better. The location is good though.

So finding a cheap hostel in Shanghai is hard relative to other cities but Mingtown's facilities could really use some work. For one thing the hostel is pretty much a hotel but there are only two bathrooms per floor, which can make sometimes hard to get a shower. Along those lines the Internet only works in the lobby. Other then that the hostel is pretty standard and the breakfast options are relatively good. Still would not stay again.

Value for money! You are great!

The location is great bcoz it is strategically situated at the heart of many tourist attractions. Though, there was a foul smell when I got inside the lobby or reception area. The room is quite small but nonetheless comfortable. The Blower and heater in the shower area were pretty much working.

WIFI is available in common area. The room that i'm staying cannot connect to WIFI at all, they do have ethernet cable available in room though, but useless if you only have a mobile or tablet which happens to me...

Paid deposit for 8nights (all female dorm) and 9ngihts (all male dorm) but upon arrival has been given a mixed dorm. Lift was broken on the night of arrival, had to carry my 30kg luggage to the 5th floor without assistance. Ended up was given an all female dorm but has a transgender in the dorm. Apart from that, all is good.

They should clean the room daily and not just collect the trash other than that issue the hotel is perfectly okay. The location of the hostel is within the tourist vicinity and the restaurants are just adjacent

The room i was in was 2nd level at the corner. The window lock was broken, and it's of climbable height. Nothing happened during the stay, still safe, have also informed the reception, hopefully they will get it fixed. Room is big though, hassle free stay. But room needs to be maintained, paint work falling off and it appears that it's moulding from the looks of it.

I've stayed in both dorm and private twin room and I can say it's a great value for money and excellent location. Cleanliness is acceptable. There are some water marks and mold on the walls, but overall felt clean. Twin rooms with private bathroom are all very spacious. A bit on the noisy side from the streets for both nights, but it's to be expected in such a central location. Overall definitely recommended for travelers on a budget!

It's so happy to stay in Mingtown Nanjing Road Youth Hostel. The staff is friendly and room is comfortable. Location is closed to East Nanjing Road. Very convenient! Really enjoyed this three days!

When I arrived, they told us they did not have a room for us. Be wary.

1 - The Stuff does not speak English at all. 2 - It smells bad everywhere. 3 - The WiFi is very poor.

Everything is good, I like this hostel. The staffs are efficient and kind enough. Atmosphere is average because my roommates are Chinese domestic travellers who don't speak anything with us, at least they are not noisy/making problems. The main problem is it would be nice if you provide small mat in bathroom, so the floor wouldn't be wet and slippery after you take shower.
