Unhelpful and rude staff. Although a cafe is available, lunch is only served between 12 and 1, no exceptions! Apparently this is because "lunch is at 12". Wifi in the rooms are intermittent. So went down to the reception area before 7 to try and get connected. Also present was the guy who does the night reception, who was slurping away at his breakfast and doing that thing which many Chinese men do to extract the phlegm from their nasal cavities ; disgusting!

The location, a block away from Line 2 off the hoppin' East Nanjing Road, cannot be matched for convenience. The price is as good as it gets for Shanghai. Walls are a bit thin, but still slept soundly through the night. Room was very generously spacious and AC worked great.

Very good location, good price, nice and clean rooms, good atmosphere. Staff was a bit unpleasant when we asked for some help. But still I would recommend this hostel.

Very clean, modern, and the staff was very helpful. Great location for a low cost. The bar is fairly well stocked and cheap. Beds each have their own night stand, light, and outlet.

The location is absolutely excellent! The bed was really comfortable but the bathroom stank if it wasn't being used, in the morning and when we would come back from a day out. Not like a sewerage smell, more like stagnant water! But the location and cheap alcohol made up for it!

As central as you can get, clean showers and toilets on every floor and staff speak good English. Good for a short stay.

i had a twin room which was big and clean. the beds and pillows were comfortable. bathroom was clean but had a bad mouldy smell. there is no wifi in the room so you don't get to enjoy the one great thing about the hostel. you mostly get people wanting to be alone hanging around on laptops which is what you get for an atmosphere. the staff couldn't tell me where i could go to make a phone call. i would stay somewhere else as a solo traveler price wise as they don't have single rooms.

It was a little difficult to find at first in the dark but I figured it out. Only problem I had is the telephone number they gave me in my confirmation email was wrong so I could not call for assistance with the taxi driver or notify them of my later-than-intended arrival due to a flight delay. All in all, a great stay and nice weekend getaway!

This is still an excellent hostel, centrally located, spacious and with all the usual facilities in abundance--including a fully functioning kitchen area which is possibly the main attraction. It's also improving: Having stayed for a week or two last year, upon my return, I find the staff improved, the place running even more smoothly, and the hostel generally cleaner--Even the computers in the bar area are working properly, which is saying something.. Great work..

I've never seen a staff that agressive when it comes to pay a room ! The first room they gave me was smelling like sh*t so they gave me another one with moisture on the walls. At lunch time and dinner time, the whole building stinks the asian food even in the rooms. I have to admit that despite the great location, this hostel was a kind of nightmare !

A nice little hostel only a few minutes walk from East Nanjing Rd, and about 10-15 minutes from the Bund. The rooms were clean and comfy, and there are plenty of common areas to hang out in. Overall, a nice place to stay, and definitely value for money (for an Australian anyway haha).

This was a good hostel. Watch your location! If you want people's square, and the downtown area this is good. I you want to be close to fake markets and easy transportation then etour mingtown is better. This was a stylish hostel though. Trust me, much better than any other "Chinese" hotel I have stayed at. Good place though!

Clean enough, close to the subway. That was all I needed for a brief stop over in Shanghai. The dorms were quit cramped; hardly enough room to turn around, let alone pack/unpack/put things in lockers. Either way, no major complaints, as it was so close to the metro and the Bund.

Most everything is great in this hostel, but some of the hallways have a musky smell.
