Don't like that I wasn't allowed to eat my own food in the common area. Internet didn't work upstairs (only in the lobby).

Owner Comment (Show)
Thanks for that you gave us a comment, the common area that is a bar we manage, and we've paid the fee we rent it, for keeping the bar works we dont allow people eating outside food there, but you can have your own food in a room or in the reception area. :-)

Ive been a loyal stayer at the hostel over the past year and like the atmosphere and location. But is disapointing lately that the wifi connection is so poor in the rooms. I have to go to the lobby lounge area to use my computer or email, but apart from that is a good hostel.

Everything is great at the R&W - with one exception. Why are guests forced to use the dim lamp lighting when working with their computers? It's bad for the eyes. One corner of the common room should, in my opinion, be properly lit for the seriously wired among the guests (that*s just about everyone). Otherwise, I love it.

I stayed 1 night and had a nice bathroom with a shower. The computers and staff were available 24 hours a day. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Communal facilities and washers/dryers on every floor. The cafe had reasonable food. It's about a 15 minute walk from the Zhongshan Park station on line 2. This line is about 1.5-2 hours from the Pudong airport and 5-6 stops from the Honqiao airport.

A great stay. Very clean, location leaves a little to be desired. Good drink special for the new year. Very warm in the dorms, lots of space in the 8 bed room. Individual keys to the rooms and individual keys for your lockers. Each bed had their own reading light. A great stay!

Staff was considerate, friendly & helpful. Room was just what we needed. Hostel was a bit tricky to find. Suggest putting sign on outside wall where 605 number is. 615 is actually around the corner not further down the street as we expected.

Both dorms and double rooms are clean and quite spacious. Still, I find the dorm rooms more cozy than the doubles (a simple decoration in dorms it's fine, but doubles are just too simple and empty, making us feel a bit uncomfortable). Nevertheless, the atmosphere at the lobby and bar is great, really relaxed.

A really cool hostel with great facilities [pool table, bar, movies etc]. The rooms are really comfortable and warm, with internet access all over the hostel. A really nice place to stay if you're visiting Shanghai, with access to 2 central subway lines within a 10min walk.

I would recommend skipping this hostel and going to another. It is a great place to meet new people but the staff treated us like we were an inconvenience. We paid for a private room which comes with a tv but no remote to use it so the tv is useless. The rooms are heated by in wall air conditioners so our stay during the spring festival was almost unbearably cold. Their rules state that you must be quiet after 11pm or you will lose your deposit. It is not enforced and you will be woken frequentl

The staff were friendly but they lacked knowledge of places to recommend around the area for different activities (such as massage places, restaurants, etc.) but it forced us to explore and to discover some good places on our own. Met some fun and friendly people there and the beds were comfortable and clean.

Stayed for 3 nights, but added my last 3 nights here as well. Great value for money, clean, friendly staff (always helpful and in for fun, do speak relatively good English), AWESOME food for great prices. Only little complain was the location, but the 5 and 10 min walk to 3 main Shanghai-metrolines makes it easy to get around. Bit hard to find, use the map on this website! Beds are very soft as well. Sometimes bit chilly in commonroom, but that;s the case all over SH. Defenitely go there again.

I had a problem with my Visa and they allowed me to stay until I figured out how to sort it out. the staff helped me TREMENDOUSLY. i know other reviews said that they were unfriendly but that was not my situation at all; in fact, one staff member (with the CUTEST little baby) helped talk to the police and gave me some needed advice. in terms of the hostel itself...it's better than i expected, the toilets need to be cleaned more but the showers were amazing! the WiFi worked and the drinks were ok

Credits to all the staff working there. They were very friendly and helpful. The location is a little out of the way. Make sure you are flying into Hongqiao airport since it's closest to the hostel and the city itself. I would definitely choose this hostel again. Cheers!

The lobby was really cool. Just please consider insulation around those window-doors in the Winter months. The wind blows right in. Some good sealant would do wonders!

Staff were extremely helpful- helped me our with checking ticket availability on numerous occasions. They are also very receptive to constructive critisism and recommendations and act quickly to improve their service/ offerings. Really good sized lockers and comfy beds. Communal bathroom is not a problem- it is kept nice and clean! Would definitely recommend!

one of favorite hostels in Shanghai... great atmosphere with fish pond and garden, nice interior design... very comfortable beds... only no elevator so packing heavy luggage up stairs is not fun... they do have deluxe rooms on first floor with outside garden I highly recommend.
