Good in general, staff could be more proactive on explaining facilities that the hostel has and offer you guidance about things to do in Beijing.

All staff at the Sanlitun have been very nice and friendly to me during the variious times I have stayed there. I especially liked the atmosphere of the office area. The presence of the dog roaming around and greeting the guests indicates how relaxed the atmosphere was. A little hard to get to from the street, but well worth the experience.

The hostel was good but I see two bad aspects: first, the closest subway station (Dongsishitiao) is quite a far away, it takes 15 minutes to reach it by walk. Second, there is no internet connection in the bedrooms but only in the lounge and very few power plugs in the same place, that's inconvenient when you want to stay for some time connected on the internet. Apart for this the rest is nice.

I booked this place a week in advance (for a group of 7 which I was responsible for) and upon arrival was told a variety of different reasons, but that there were no beds for us. After 3 1/2 hours of waiting and arguing, their suggestion was to put each of us in different rooms. Nothing welcomes American's to China then putting them all in different rooms. Long story short we were put in staff rooms with STAFF and the rest of us put in a filthy room the shared a wall with the bar.

The 6-bed dorm we stayed was well kept and very clean. There is food available nearby the hostel, however, the nearest subway station is some distance away.

Despite it´s good located it´s very difficult to find it. The address reported it´s somehow wrong and even the taxi driver was astonished. Food is in average and poor breakfast. The young people create a very informal atmosphere; the musics was too loud. Ar one the lobby close, no beers and light anymore. The reception remain open 24H. They sell a city map from 2005: very poor. Cleaning one time a day. No lookers in the room, but safes in the lobby.

Really fun hostel in ideal location for shopping/eating/partying in Sanlitun area. It's great because if you don't feel like being out in Sanlitun late, but still want to socialize and have a few drinks, the hostel has a great restaurant and bar inside!

What we appreciated most was the cleanliness of the rooms and common facilities and the friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Food is good too. However, the road access towards the hostel should be properly done up. At the moment the road access is too uneven with potholes here and there and these can trip a person especially at night. We reckon it will not cost much to do up the road. Better road access will certainly enhance the hostel value. I will rate this hostel 8.50 out of 10 points.

Fantastic, cheap and safe hostel. The knowledge provided by the lady who helped us find our way was invaluable and accurate. We kept returning for the breakfasts!

Communal area was the best bit of this hostel. Sociable, pool table, bar and plenty of seating. However the music was so loud that it was sometimes off putting to hang out there after a long day of sightseeing. Room was a little depressing with our window facing a wall! However comfy, massive single beds (in our twin room). Communal bathroom was ok, a little tatty and wasn't enough cubicles (had to wait over 20 mins for a shower one day). Not too far a walk to subway.

There were no lockers inside the rooms and a sign on the door recommended that valuables be left at the front desk. I tried to leave my laptop bag with reception staff and they asked me to just leave it behind the counter instead of locking it up. I asked if there was a secure storage facility as I had seen the front desk unattended to earlier. They were very abrupt and unapologetic that they did not offer this service despite having a signage that advised me to do so.

Excellent staff and atmosphere! The rooms are clean and the bathroom was good too, i never had to wait in the morning! The location is very good too and easy to find with the underground not far and plenty of local food to try! The beer is cheap at the hostel's bar but the food was quite expensive though.

I think is neccesary some investments in the groundfloor, wall papers and the bathromm.

Thanks for your hospitality during my stay. Ovarall good for me. One thing I would like to address is that there was no hot water (only warm water) from the shower in the early morning around 5:00 a.m. on the 3rd of April. That's why I have got a cold now. Thanks.

We had a very good stay, and especially appreciated the helpful and friendly staff. Common areas are really good. We found the rooms cold.
