Lovely place to stay. Nice calm atmosphere in the middle of busy city! The owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful. 10 min walk to metro, walking distance to forbidden city and loads of places to eat. Would recommend to anybody going to Beijing.

I had a great stay at the City Walls, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. On arrival, I got a great amount of information on Beijing which helped me getting the maximum out of my stay. They'll also always help you by writing down addresses or other stuff in Chinese which you can show to someone (taxi driver, etc.). The courtyard is gorgeous and the atmosphere is relaxed, nights are quiet. The location is excellent, underground and Forbidden city are really close by.

The owner was awesome, very helpful. The lady who worked at night wasn't very friendly and we found her sleeping on the sofa most of the time in the common area and we didn't dare to wake her up with any questions. Having Jet lag I believe most of the travelers would like or awake early and go on in the fress air.I know this is a hostel not a hotel but it was no chance to get a coffee or breakfast before 7am .Would be nice to have a coffee maker at the common area for use. The Hostel had good food

Dear Sir: As you know, we supply fresh café, Tea, food during 7:00-21:00, Beer, Beverage and Snack in the fridge you can grab 24 Hrs. that is enough for most of guests need. Even in Peninsula Beijing WangFu Hotel, lobby café is open at 7:00. We also don’t think 3:30 am is the great time to have a long chat, that is the duty time of reception for late check-in, early check out, or emergency need. Pls excuse her on and off sleeping, she needs energy to serve until 8:00.Nice trip..City Walls

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were very good and reasonbly priced. The character of the accommodation was very authentic and well situatated in the middle of the Huton with a very pleasant atmosphere with very suitable facilities. The rooms were very clean and the air conditioning was very pleasant considering the very hot and muggy climate. I would be more than happy to stay there again during my next visit to Beijing and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Great location, right in the middle of an older residential Hutong. It is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro but plenty of cabs are available in the area too. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They provide maps and suggested sightseeing itineraries. WiFi available in the common areas. Food and drink available too. The cheapest beers I have seen for a long time! I booked one of the Great Wall tours to a less visited section of the wall and had a great time.

A bit difficult to find, but the directions they give are good - it is a 15 min walk to the nearest metro, but there are buses nearby which the staff directs you too which are easy to take. The dorm room was comfortable enough, but reeked of the toilet! There needs to be lids on the trash bins in the bathroom (since you have to throw toilet paper in there) and it needs to be cleaned out more regularly!

Dear friend:Thank you for your kindly review. The cleanness of dorm bathroom has always been our most important thing, can not clean it all the time because your roommates are from different countries with different habits and rest time. Since now on, we are now required our room services regularly clean dormitory bathroom every two hours at daytime, and try our best not to disturb the sleeping guests. Thanks again for your suggestion, and warm welcome you back here any time you like. City Wall

Really great hostel. Excellent location. A bit tough to find but they'll give you a little map if you ask before your trip. Great atmosphere, really helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable beds. It was a nice quiet place to stay and plenty of interesting people staying there to meet. Really helpful with helping you find what you want in Beijing. Good Great Wall tour options. Free tourist map too, and they will highlight everything on it that you might want to do. Highly recommended.

Cons: The bathroom for the dorm style room isn't the greatest in the world. I couldn't figure out how to get the hot water to work, but that could just be me. The place is not very easy to find. Pros: The staff is very helpful and friendly. They really help you get settled into Beijing and make you feel welcomed. The dorm rooms were clean and looked nice. Everyone is given a locker with a key. So you don't need to worry about you values being stolen. Free internet and no password wi-fi!

We liked the place, staff friendly ad helpful the problem was the location of our room. It was too close to the reception which the noise at 6:30 every morning is not enjoyable.

Nice and quiet, can be very hard to find. The area is really safe though, so no problems wandering around to find it (the signs are difficult to see)

Really good hostel. Nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly and helps finding your way around and organizing things. They booked a train ticket for me. Had it in my hands just a couple of hours later. Prices for rooms, food and drinks are good. The place is very nicely located in a small hutong neighbourhood north of Jingshan park . Restaurants and shops are nearby. 10-15 mins to subway station. Only downside is that there is no real outside area. Highly recommended though.

The boss is really friendly and helpful. The hostel is really cute and the location is perfect, but I felt we were paying a lot for the location. The bathroom and the room were not so clean.
