Lisatiedot

If you like things calm, friendly, and a little bit human, you’ll probably feel at home at Attic. Since opening in 2013, travellers from more than 140 countries have passed through — over 100,000 of them so far — and many leave us a little love along the way, averaging a 9/10 rating across 6,500+ reviews.

You’ll find Attic on the top floor of a heritage building in the heart of Auckland’s CBD, just around the corner from the Sky Tower, Queen Street, and everything you need when you first land in New Zealand. With 100+ beds across dorms and private rooms, it’s social without being overwhelming — big enough to meet people, small enough to feel familiar. Things are clean, calm, and well run, and yes, we’ve picked up a few Hostelworld awards along the way, including Most Popular Hostel in Auckland.

Attic is proudly locally owned by three friends who care deeply about the place and the people who pass through it. It’s not part of a big international group, and it’s not run like one either. That’s what keeps things personal, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming — the kind of place where decisions are made with people in mind, not policies.

This is the sort of hostel where you wander down the hallway barefoot, end up chatting to someone new, and suddenly you’re making plans together. If you’re heading out solo — to a festival, a walk, or dinner — chances are someone will invite you along. And if you’ve got nothing planned? That’s perfect too. Sink into the couch, put your feet up, read a book, or just enjoy doing nothing for a while. When you’re travelling, that feeling is gold.

Whoever you are, and wherever you’re coming from, you’re welcome here.
Because the best part of any hostel isn’t the building, the bunks, or even the location — it’s the people. The travellers, the staff, the shared moments and small kindnesses that make a place feel like home, even when you’re far from it.

“He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.”
— Māori proverb

(What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.)

If you're looking for a place before early morning bus/train/flight, this works well! If you're looking for fun, comfy hostel experience, maybe somewhere else is better.

I stayed over for few nights. Hostel is clean and it has everything that a backpacker needs. However, there were some party people in my room and they came over late and loud. This of course disturbed a bit. Additionally, room was hot. When sleeping on the bunk I didn’t get much air from the window at the end of the room or the fen on the floor. Corridor was a bit loud as well. Kitchen is great and functioning. Staff was friendly, some more than others.
