O

If you like things calm, friendly, and a little bit human, you’ll probably feel at home at Attic. Since opening in 2013, travellers from more than 140 countries have passed through — over 100,000 of them so far — and many leave us a little love along the way, averaging a 9/10 rating across 6,500+ reviews.

You’ll find Attic on the top floor of a heritage building in the heart of Auckland’s CBD, just around the corner from the Sky Tower, Queen Street, and everything you need when you first land in New Zealand. With 100+ beds across dorms and private rooms, it’s social without being overwhelming — big enough to meet people, small enough to feel familiar. Things are clean, calm, and well run, and yes, we’ve picked up a few Hostelworld awards along the way, including Most Popular Hostel in Auckland.

Attic is proudly locally owned by three friends who care deeply about the place and the people who pass through it. It’s not part of a big international group, and it’s not run like one either. That’s what keeps things personal, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming — the kind of place where decisions are made with people in mind, not policies.

This is the sort of hostel where you wander down the hallway barefoot, end up chatting to someone new, and suddenly you’re making plans together. If you’re heading out solo — to a festival, a walk, or dinner — chances are someone will invite you along. And if you’ve got nothing planned? That’s perfect too. Sink into the couch, put your feet up, read a book, or just enjoy doing nothing for a while. When you’re travelling, that feeling is gold.

Whoever you are, and wherever you’re coming from, you’re welcome here.
Because the best part of any hostel isn’t the building, the bunks, or even the location — it’s the people. The travellers, the staff, the shared moments and small kindnesses that make a place feel like home, even when you’re far from it.

“He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.”
— Māori proverb

(What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.)

Podsumowanie opinii podróżujących

The Attic Backpackers w Auckland oferuje fantastyczną centralną lokalizację, ułatwiającą zwiedzanie miasta.

Not the best but not the worst. Staff keep it clean, but everything was really basic. Beds didn’t have a curtain and nowhere to lock bags away, so you relied on roommates locking the doors as they didn’t auto lock. That being said it felt safe. The kitchen was too small and falling apart a bit, half the stoves didn’t work, and the handles on equipment were loose which felt a bit dangerous. Great location though, easy to get buses/train from airport and into town.
