Fantastic hostel! Definitely the best place I’ve stayed in. The staff/volunteers make you feel welcomed and at home. S/O to Alex, Millie and Ben for being so amazing. The rooms are nice and comfy. There is a big kitchen/common room that you can use. You can walk to all the tourist attractions in Budapest, and if you prefer public transport, you are right next to the tram and metro. I strongly recommend this hostel. If you are looking for a clean, safe and friendly environment, this is it.

Had a great stay at Big Fish, the staff and volunteers were very welcoming and had activities arranged throughout the week that guests could join in. I stayed in the treehouse room that had the coolest set up of any hostel I've been in! The hostel is on a main street, very close to buses and team lines, and easy enough to walk to main sights if you wanted. Lots of grocery stores around and places for a late night bite. No AC so pretty hot in summer. Thanks Dimitri and everyone for a fun time!

I met some really cool people here and the staff was amazing. It's next to everything that you possibly need and more. The showers are nice and clean, and laundry is done exceptionally well. The only downfall though was that it's hot as balls in the hostel when it's 30 C/ 85 F and over because there are limited fans and no a/c. Make sure you're not going during a heatwave.

Good hostel if you want to have a good time and still get a good sleep, unlike in some of the party hostels in Budapest. The staff and volunteers are social and will take you out. However, a few of us who were travelling solo did manage to go a few days without meeting other guests which was a little strange considering.. No AC but the fans in the rooms do a decent job. Common area is pretty tiny - adds to the homely feel of the hostel though.

To preface, the staff and guests were all very nice. My low review is because of how dirty the hostel was. There were trash items in my dorm when I arrived, and the bin had not been emptied; we are asked to remove our shoes when entering the hostel, but the floors had crumbs, hair, and dirt; the bathroom (especially the shower) needed a cleaning too. Finally, there are no locks for the dorm rooms, which did not feel safe. I loved Budapest, but the hostel was merely adequate.
