If you're planning a trip to Ireland, start it off on a high at Galway City Hostel & Bar. There's live Irish music every evening in our Darcy’s Bar, so you can grab a pint of Guinness and some grub and soak up that good Green Isle atmosphere without even leaving the hostel. You'll want to explore eventually, we realise, so we organise events like dinners out and pub crawls nightly to make it easy to mix with other guests. When you're back, browse the free Wi-Fi or use our iMac in the chill-out area, or prep a post-pub meal in the shared kitchen. And in the morning? Free breakfast!

We're right by Galway's bus and train stations – turn to the right and you'll spot us – looking out over Eyre Square. It's pretty much the middle of Galway, so you can walk to places like Eyre Square Shopping Centre in 2 minutes. The Latin Quarter, with its buzzing nightlife, is less than 10 minutes on foot, so you can toast your trip here. Arriving by plane? Galway Airport is 20 minutes away by bus.

Rooms and Dorms

Craving a bit of privacy but need to stay on budget? Choose an en-suite dorm with a curtain-lined pod bed. If you're staying in one of the other mixed or female-only dorms, bathrooms are out in the corridors. Bunks have universal plugs, and there are lockers for your bits and bobs. Linen's included, so you won't need to pay extra (or pack any sheets!).

Extras and activities

We've got the local lowdown on Galway and can't wait to share it with you. Grab a free city map to stay on track, and if it's chilly out, a free tea or coffee when you get in. You can hire towels, hairdryers and adaptors, and there's a laundry service (things do get muddy out here!). We can also book you onto a tour to the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and the Aran Islands at discounted prices.

I LOVED my stay here! I actually had so much fun with the other travelers that I canceled a lot of my other plans to stay an extra night. I had a blast during the PubCrawls. So many hostels have events but no one shows up. I felt like every event that this hostel had had a ton of people at it. It was also an amazing price! The friends I met her I hope to keep as friends for the rest of my life. Thank you for facilitating a place for all of us to meet.

This hostel was great! The first staff member I met was fairly cold and uninterested but Isabel was a total legend and sooo helpful. Amazing breakfast, super clean and it was a nice vibe in the cosy common areas, would 100% stay again

Great location! Been to this city before and stayed much further away and it makes a big difference. Great live music in pub beneath the hostel. Only downside was room was really hot - could be that it’s rare to be sunny in Ireland 😆 but could’ve used a fan! Few breakfast and communal dinner was a nice touch too. The curtains around the beds was a first and was actually something we loved even tho it was such a small touch. Wish more hostels would do that!

This was a really good hostel that had a nice welcoming vibe and the people staying there were all excited to be there. (The staff is super nice) The kitchen is a nice setup that is super accommodating. The hostel is in an excellent location to where it’s close to the bus station and the old part of Galway. The biggest negative was that it was kinda pricey for a large mixed dorm

Really great hostel - had a very warm greeting from Brian at reception and the other staff were equally as friendly. Perfect location, walking distance to everything you need. Only downside would be the only common place to hang out is the kitchen/dining area so it can get a little crammed. Will definitely stay here next time I’m in Galway!

It was great and staff were helpful although I did get bitten by little bugs during the night. Overall a good experience.
