Best hostel I've stayed in so far. An individual keycode is used for everything (hallway entrance, room door, and another for lockers). The pod bed was very clean, with USB plugs in each. Only complaint is how warm it got at night in the summer months, since there was no AC. Great location, and great lounge area that connects right into the bar.

It was very nice! I felt very safe as a female traveler. My only complaint was that the cleaning staff comes in way early in the morning. One morning, they came in to start cleaning at 7am. I understand they have a job to do, but I thought that was a little excessive. Oh, and more hooks/shelves in the showers. Overall, I loved it!

Overall, the actual facilities of Jacob's Inn are excellent. Location steps from the bus terminal and DART station. Nearby grocery store. Within a 15 -30 minutes walk from Central Dublin and the Liberties--and all the attractions, sites, and museums that are in the area. I always felt secure-. Loved the privacy of the pods. Noise was an issue. Quiet hours were not enforced and often loud parties were ongoing into the wee hours of the mornings-and cleaning teams vacuumed hallways at midnight.

High marks for security (you have to add passwords on two doors to get to the rooms), value for money (in the terribly expensive city of Dublin) and location. Average marks for facilities (the beds are a bit of a pain to get inside, and the seating area late at night is small as the restaurant/bar closes) and atmosphere (the hostel is not conducive to socialising as the large restaurant/bar is comprised of small tables). I'd stay again only if I wanted to save some money.

Jacobs inn was a nice hostel. Sleeping in pods gives a lot of privacy so thats cool even if they get a little warm at night. Everything was clean and I liked the lockers with digital code. I found it hard to meet people there as a solo traveller because its a big place and they get many many people even groups but overall I would go back.

    Very Good

    09 Aug 2022
It's what you would expect at a hostel. My roommates were quiet and just kinda did their own thing, which is nice. If you use a hairdryer, there won't be any outlet in the bathroom. My biggest complaint is the lack of AC, which is very common in Europe. There were 3 big windows and you're only able to open a single small portion to let the air in, so it's really hot and humid inside, you don't feel an adequate airflow. And of course, with poor ventilation, the room smells musty.

Atmosphere was amazing, good vibes all around. Expectations might have been a bit high, but overall experience was good. Low rating is because we were in an all girls dorm and the front desk checked a guy into our room. Not ideal.

Good location near the trains. Bathrooms are moldy and the showers only stay on for 15 seconds at a time by design. The bar closes at 10 and was never used much which made it harder to meet other travelers. Definitely not worth the money they’re charging
