Hostelworld says

Shelter Jordan is near Anne Frank House and the rest of central Amsterdam. Our guests say 'if you're not into partying, drugs or drinking, this is a great place for you' and have recommended this hostel for lone travellers as it offers a safe atmosphere and single-sex dorms on separate floors. Visitors say 'the people are friendly and the community area is open until late, so there is plenty of time to socialise with others'. We like that the hostel offers free breakfast as well as lunches and dinners for around â'¬6.

Lovely place and scrupulously clean. Staff extremely friendly. Large female dorm has partitions so doesn't seem crowded. Very quiet too.

Very happy with my stay here. A nice relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Location good as just outside the main tourist area so more relaxed without being far away. Good breakfast and were happy to adapt to my allergies. Food and drink in cafe inexpensive.

There was a lot of dust and it was very hot. They should get box fans for the dorms. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The location of the hostel is good; the premises are generally clean and secure. However, the same cannot be said for the overall atmosphere and the staff. Being a Christian hostel with prescriptive rules to follow, they are utterly strict on the male/female separation - which I obviously respect, but it also makes me smile, being the red light district just a few blocks away. The "included" breakfast is quite strict too, with fixed menus and extra money for any addition (even for a banana).

Really bad hostle. I shared a room with 16 OTHER GIRLS! no sleep. And the doors are so loud!! It's ridiculous!! So the cleaners are voluntary and horrible at cleaning there were POO smears on every toilet. Yuck!! And the sheets always leave white dust on your clothes (everyone experienced this) There is no atmosphere and no music. Luckily I made a friend with the girl next to my bed. Location is pretty good. They give free breakfast.

The location is not bad and they offer free breakfast but besides that, it's one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in. Most of the staff was very rude, specially Shay, they act like you're a nuisance and you don't really feel welcome at all. The doors are extremely loud and it's very annoying when you're trying to sleep or not wake others up. The internet speed is horrible. The rooms are way too hot and there's no airflow whatsoever. Totally not worth it, never staying there again.

Shelter Jordan says

I'd say what makes us so different from the other hostels in Amsterdam is that there's no alcohol or drugs here, just a quiet and friendly atmosphere in the beautiful Jordaan area of the city. We also have a ton of extras, such as our free hot breakfast, free walking tours, free Bible discussion groups, free weekly movie nights and special events at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving.
Anne Frank House is only 500m from here and Dam Square, Leidseplein and the Rijksmuseum are also within walking distance. Personally I recommend checking out the 'hofjes' (hidden courtyards) around the Jordaan area.
Our hostel is ideally suited for those wanting to get a good night's sleep and visit the museums instead of going out to party.
