Hostelworld says

Shelter Jordan is near Anne Frank House and the rest of central Amsterdam. Our guests say 'if you're not into partying, drugs or drinking, this is a great place for you' and have recommended this hostel for lone travellers as it offers a safe atmosphere and single-sex dorms on separate floors. Visitors say 'the people are friendly and the community area is open until late, so there is plenty of time to socialise with others'. We like that the hostel offers free breakfast as well as lunches and dinners for around â'¬6.

Great location. Staff were friendly. Though it is a Christian hostel, you don't have to be Christian to stay or have a good time - everyone was respectful and open to great discussions! Nice to stay somewhere where they were open to you going out, but not to you coming inebriated! Cleanliness: although my dorm was clean, my friend who was in a mixed dorm woke up with itchy bites/ bed bugs and I saw mice in the common area/ cafe on a couple occasions.

The staff were really helpful. The atmosphere is really good in the cafe in the evenings. The dorms are clean and they have a charging point near the bed for every person. The number of bathrooms are relatively less i felt but nevertheless it's a great place to stay

Very Christian style house turned hostel. First floor is for females only and second floor is for boys only. Pretty clean but a little cramped. Staff was nice though and breakfast included is nice.

Good location, central and convenient. Staffs are nice. Breakfast is basic. The bedroom is small and i don't like the locker, too noisy. When someone comes back late, it's irritating when she opens or close the locker, especially when the room is that small. Remember to bring your padlock or buy one at reception because it's not provided. The bathroom is smelly. It seems they clean it only once a day when many rooms on the same floor use it. Anyway i think it's fair because the price is cheap.

    Very Good

    10 Oct 2019
Overall it was good stay. You can walk to the center. There’s fridge. The lady who checked us in was unfriendly and not knowledgeable around there. Staff were chatting at the cafe loudly and I felt uncomfortable a bit. In the room, it was clean comparatively but smells slightly bad. Breakfast was small because of free. In the bathroom, showers splashed widely and let the more space on the floor wet. It can’t be helped. But hot water was running well. The guy who checked us out was very friendly.

The staff was friendly and the breakfast was alright. The only down was the first night arriving to my room and finding someone else sleeping on my bed because he was told by the receptionist. It got sorted in the end, but it wasn't a nice situation as you can imagine.

Half of the lights in the bathroom wouldn’t turn on, which made it look super haunted. Inside the room, the lack of decoration doesn’t make it look minimalistic, but rather like a jail. I had a 4-person dormitory room, but it was so small that you could barely open your luggage. There was no desk or whatsoever to put just a little bit of your stuff, so people had to reach the locker all the time, and unfortunately it was quite noisy. I would definitely not come back nor recommend it to others.

Shelter Jordan says

I'd say what makes us so different from the other hostels in Amsterdam is that there's no alcohol or drugs here, just a quiet and friendly atmosphere in the beautiful Jordaan area of the city. We also have a ton of extras, such as our free hot breakfast, free walking tours, free Bible discussion groups, free weekly movie nights and special events at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving.
Anne Frank House is only 500m from here and Dam Square, Leidseplein and the Rijksmuseum are also within walking distance. Personally I recommend checking out the 'hofjes' (hidden courtyards) around the Jordaan area.
Our hostel is ideally suited for those wanting to get a good night's sleep and visit the museums instead of going out to party.
