We really enjoyed our stay here. The room is compact and basic, as you would expect for the price, but the staff are extremely friendly and the place is spotless. Very good location - some attractions in walking distance and good metro and JR links for those which aren’t. Would recommend!

Exactly as advertised. Staff friendly and helpful, room small but comfortable and clean and had everything necessary. Really close to Ueno station, Asakusa, the museums and the Kesei line for Narita airport.

Great location in Ueno, very friendly staff. I had a single room, it could be nice to have another hook or two in the bathroom. Each time cleaning was done the room was left with lights on and AC on sometimes even with the window open ! (if I leave the room with the AC off then I know I don't need it on when coming back). It is a useless consumption of valuable resources and an easy way to better your ecological footprint. Towels should be changed only if on the floor for the same reason. Thanks

Strategically located. Safe and secure. Very friendly atmosphere and the best part? Their helpful, cheerful staff. They are always at hand on all your needs and will go out of their way to help you with EVERYTHING!!! Complimentary use of umbrella is a plus, too.

Great place. Super clean, good location, lovely staff. This is in no way a hostel though. All private rooms so, HOTEL atmosphere! Not great if travelling alone. Lots of local information for sights and things to do though!

    Fabulous

Stayto is in an accessible - besides the main Ueno/Asakusa area, it's about 20min by train to get to most places. Our room was fine (Japanese style) - but it smelled musty/damp, so crack a window (no screens so be careful if it's mosquito season). The mattresses are thin and hard, and the pillow are filled with what feels like beans. But if you're not a picky sleeper it's fine! If you book on the stayto website, they have a 100% refund cancellation policy but that EXCLUDES the deposit, FYI!

    Very Good

    29 Nov 2019
Accommodation in between Ueno and Asakusa with very good metro connection or the possibility to walk into the nice Asakusa quarter (Sensoji temple approx. 20-30 min on foot). If you look for something not too expensive with a good public transport connection this hostel is a good choice. Otherwise the rooms/hostel itself is in rather old shape, probably ok price-value relation for Tokyo but not so nice (stayed in a twin bed room). Staff was nice.

    Good

Stayto provides one of the most affordable options for a private room in Tokyo, however this is its main perk. Atmosphere is largely non-existent as this appears to be a converted business hotel and not a hostel with a common space. Rooms & facilities very much show their age, however my room was clean, bed was comfortable, and A/C worked well.

Put $100k into updating the look and aesthetic, and you have got yourself a pretty nice place. Otherwise, it is dated and ugly and not modern at all, but suitable if you need a good and cheap place in a very expensive city.
