Located in the centre of the Isle of Skye, this former Post Office offers a warm and friendly environment. The hostel is noticeable for its vibrant yellow colour along with its imaginative interior. The spacious kitchen and dining room, housed in the original sorting room, is the perfect place to meet other backpackers whilst enjoying the fabulous view across Portree Bay to the Cuillins from the window.

The hostel, once the main post office for the island, has been converted into a hostel with bags of character whilst being well provided with excellent facilities.The reception and lounge is the original post office counter area, still with the original safe, clock, service counter and access, and WiFi throughout the hostel.

Our hostel is easy to find, public transport is a minute's walk and parking, shops, tourist information and parking a short walking distance. With rooms range from 4 bedded to 12 bedded, along with offering family friendly and mixed dorms

A self- service laundry is available daily from 9 am to 10 pm .

The staff attendance from 8:00 am to 10 pm.

• The guest can cancel free of charge until 7 days before arrival. The guest will be charged the total price of the reservation if they cancel in the 7 days before arrival.

Check in from 16:00 to 21:00 .

It was honestly not very clean. There were bugs in the bathroom and I could see splatters on the wall in the dorm where bugs had been squished before and not properly cleaned. No plugs near the beds, thankfully I had a power bank already charged for my phone to set my alarm. No secure place to store your things in the dorms either.

The hostel is much more cramped than the Hostelling Scotland facilities. The room with 12 beds had very little space, and poor ventilation. The beds are hand made and difficult to get into upper bunks. The staff clean the facility, but that does not hide its general grubbiness. The request for "cash only" is very suspicious -- are they trying to hide their income from government authorities?
