Welcome to Drifter Byron Bay - an experience for the free-spirited, where our story is yours.

We might not have met yet, but we can’t wait to. To share stories under palm-dappled skies, to stretch out in golden light, and to lose track of time between swims, sunsets and serendipity. To laugh in the courtyard, float in the heated pool, and spend slow evenings swapping surf tips and travel plans in the Leisure Club or over a film in the cinema.

Our newly designed spaces are made for the curious and the connected - layered with texture, colour and character, and created to feel like a beautiful retreat you never want to leave. Choose from thoughtfully designed shared suites or private rooms, all with air-conditioning, comfortable beds, privacy curtains and plenty of space to unwind. Onsite, guests can enjoy the Leisure Club, sunny courtyard, outdoor heated pool, cinema room, shared kitchen and more. Whether you’re flying solo or bringing your favourite people, you’ll find comfort in all the right places.

We don’t know everything about you, but by the fact you’ve found us, we know you’re curious - you want to see and feel more than you’ve seen and felt before. And because of that, we’re excited to drift away together, somewhere, forever.

Very modern 70's vibe hostel. Reception area is lovely. The kitchen setup was great and the lounge/eating area was fantastic! A heated pool AMAZING. Fun daily events. My only comment would be that the mattresses could be comfier, and maybe a personal fan in each bed. Otherwise an awesome hostel, would definitely stay here again!

My 3 friends and I stayed at Drifter for two nights and loved it! It’s such a beautiful hostel, the rooms are amazing, the pool area is super cool and all the staff are beyond friendly and helpful. Great location and we felt super safe! Couldn’t recommend enough!! The kitchen facilities were great, however it was a bit dirtier than we were expecting but this could be due to less staff cleaning it over a weekend. We would also suggest having disposable paper towels in the bathroom! :) thank you!

Nice hostel in a good location. Nice kitchen and common areas. The only thing is that the room could be cleaner—everything was covered in sand, even though it was cleaned daily.
