Welcome to Drifter Byron Bay - an experience for the free-spirited, where our story is yours.

We might not have met yet, but we can’t wait to. To share stories under palm-dappled skies, to stretch out in golden light, and to lose track of time between swims, sunsets and serendipity. To laugh in the courtyard, float in the heated pool, and spend slow evenings swapping surf tips and travel plans in the Leisure Club or over a film in the cinema.

Our newly designed spaces are made for the curious and the connected - layered with texture, colour and character, and created to feel like a beautiful retreat you never want to leave. Choose from thoughtfully designed shared suites or private rooms, all with air-conditioning, comfortable beds, privacy curtains and plenty of space to unwind. Onsite, guests can enjoy the Leisure Club, sunny courtyard, outdoor heated pool, cinema room, shared kitchen and more. Whether you’re flying solo or bringing your favourite people, you’ll find comfort in all the right places.

We don’t know everything about you, but by the fact you’ve found us, we know you’re curious - you want to see and feel more than you’ve seen and felt before. And because of that, we’re excited to drift away together, somewhere, forever.

The building is lovely with an amazing pool. The location is amazing. There are not enough toilets and they are far away from the rooms. Showers smelt a bit and were often dirty and the water only got slightly warm.

Overall I think this place has a higher rating than it should. The bedrooms and pool area is nice but the other spaces aren’t great. The kitchen is insanely small for how big this hostel is and doesn’t get cleaned enough for how much use it gets. So it can get pretty gross in there sometimes. The space they give you in the cold and dry storage is tiny. The bathrooms aren’t great and could be cleaned more. They can get pretty gross as well.

one of the best hostels i’ve ever stayed at!! i extended as i didn’t want to leave! perfect location, super helpful staff and the best facilities: super clean pool, inviting deck area with stunning decor throughout (modern surfer boho vibes). bathrooms could’ve been cleaner in en-suite dorms but other than that no complaints. would defo stay here again and recommend to all solo travellers as it was incredibly easy to meet people at socials and in the lounge areas / dorms
