RENOVATIONS 2025: Please note that Aquarius is currently undergoing major renovations. Our poolside area and beer garden will remain closed until early summer 2025. Other communal spaces may also be under construction or temporarily modified during this period. Until the renovations are complete, paid parking will be unavailable Monday to Friday and only partially available on weekends (subject to availability).

Located on the iconic Lawson Street, Aquarius Backpackers is just 100 meters from Byron Bay’s world-famous Main Beach and steps from buzzing shops and restaurants. Whether you’re here to relax or connect, we’ve got you covered.
Enjoy a full line-up of free daily activities, including rooftop yoga, beach volleyball, karaoke, trivia nights, and paint & sip sessions. You’ll also have access to free high-speed Wi-Fi, a brand-new rooftop gym, ping pong, PlayStation 5, pool table, and a fully equipped kitchen, among other amenities. Surfboard hire is also available for an additional fee.
Aquarius offers Byron’s most spacious dorms—all with ensuite bathrooms and air conditioning—as well as a variety of room types to suit every traveller: mixed dorms, female-only dorms, private rooms, and luxury motel-style spa suites.
Important Information:
- Guests must be 18+ with valid photo ID at check-in.
- Dorm beds are exclusively for guests aged 18–35. Those over 35 are welcome in private rooms.
- For group bookings of 10 or more, please contact us directly via email at groups@aquariusbyronbay.com.au
- Motel Suite and Spa Suite bookings include one reserved car space.
- All other parking can be booked at check-in for a small daily fee (subject to availability).
- During peak periods (20 December – 10 January and Easter long weekend), a 25% deposit is required at the time of booking. Full payment is due one month before arrival. No refunds or changes are allowed within one month of check-in.
- No check-ins or check-outs are available on 25 December or 1 January.
- Roca, our Latin fusion restaurant and licensed bar, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. In-house guests receive 15% off food and drinks. Please note that some rooms may experience elevated noise levels during these hours.
