Great Shanghai Guest House

Great Shanghai Guest House is made up of two adjoining pre-war heritage houses, beautifully restored and operating since 2013 with a valid hotel permit. Our building features authentic 100-year-old wooden floors and original wooden beams that reflect Georgetown’s unique history.

For your safety, the guest house is equipped with 7 CCTV cameras, a keypad entrance door with high-impact tempered glass, and 2 fire extinguishers.

We are located right in the heart of Georgetown. Just slightly opposite the guest house is a local mosque, where you may hear the morning call to prayer — a real part of daily Malaysian life. Malaysia is a multiracial country with Chinese, Malay, and Indian communities, and you can try all three cuisines just a short walk away.

A free shuttle bus provided by the local government stops nearby and brings you around Georgetown at zero cost. This bus is perfect for exploring the city’s culture, food, museums, heritage buildings, street art, and more.
