Welcome to Tamarindo Backpackers, a boutique surf hostel surrounded by tropical nature in one of Costa Rica’s most famous beach towns. We’re a short walk from Tamarindo Beach, the town center, restaurants, bars, shops and some of the best surf in the area — close enough to everything, but tucked away from the noise when it’s time to relax.
Our hostel is all about good people, good vibes and feeling at home. Spend the afternoon cooling off in our pool, relax in the tropical garden or hammocks, cook something in our fully equipped guest kitchen, or hang out in the common areas and meet travelers from around the world. And don’t be surprised if the local howler monkeys and tropical birds provide the morning soundtrack.
We’re social, but we’re not a party hostel. If you’re looking for a clean, friendly and relaxed place where you can meet people, surf, explore Tamarindo and still get a good night’s sleep, you’ll fit right in.

SURF WITH US
Surfing is a big part of life here. Good Vibes Surf School is based right at the hostel, with experienced local instructors and more than 20 years of surfing experience. Whether it’s your first time standing on a board or you already surf and want to improve, we offer private and group lessons, surf coaching and local surf experiences.
Our approach goes beyond simply getting you on a wave. We focus on safety, technique, ocean awareness, surf etiquette and helping you become a more confident and independent surfer.

ROOMS & DORMS
We offer 6-bed, 8-bed and 12-bed mixed dorms, with comfortable beds, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Our dorms and common areas are cleaned daily.
Prefer your own space? We also have several private-room options for couples, solo travelers, friends and groups of up to 5 people, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Some private rooms include their own bathroom, while others have access to shared bathroom facilities.

Arriving after 9:00 PM? Please let us know in advance so we can arrange your arrival.
Payment is made upon arrival by cash or credit card. A small fee applies to card payments.
Taxes included.
Cancellation policy: 48 hours before arrival.
Quiet time begins at 10:30 PM, helping us keep the hostel relaxed and comfortable at night.
Reception is available during selected hours.
Bed linen and sheets are included. Shower towels are available to rent for $1. Please bring your own beach towel.
Breakfast is not included, but free coffee is available.
