Willhouse

We had a good stay at this hostel. Private room was good with comfortable bed. Kitchen was well-equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The main downside is the bathrooms - the shower upstairs leaks on the floor so it is always wet, and this then causes a leak in the bathroom down stairs where water is dripping from the ceiling. The staff try hard to keep it clean, but they are facing a losing battle due to the condition of the bathrooms. As a result, they did not always feel the most clean.

Some rooms are over the external area which means it’s impossible to sleep before midnight. Also small windows - but they are cool. Information about local hikes minimal (apart from the volcano) and used the tourist office. There are several lovely day hikes using the bus. Las Pozones recommended. Go for when it opens - very quiet and it’s lovely - you can go into the river as well as the pools. Super clean.

Great hostel, but we were a bit disappointed to have to pay 1,000 CLP per bag, per night to store our luggage while trekking. This didn’t feel very backpacker-friendly, especially since we had booked two extra nights to stay again after the hike.
