Aqua Lounge Bocas del Toro

Avoid this place like the plague on a Friday when it hosts the last stop of the all-day, 3 island drinkfest known as Filthy Fridays Good news is that is it over by 10 pm. The most concerning thing is the lack of security in the room. Note: They do have security guards on the premises, but that doesn't give me peace of mind when I cannot lock the door to my room. Our sliding glass entry had no lock on the door. There was a locked door to our patio but that is easily circumvented by climbing around the wall. We were unfortunate enough to be there while the restaurant operation was being taken over by a new operator and they were unable to provide coffee in the morning. On the plus side, breakfast was quite delicious. Also, it is probably the cheapest option in Bocas del Toro. So, a mixed bag. Would I stay again? Possibly, but not on a Friday.

Don’t drink the filter water here or the ice. Me and a loads of others got ill whilst staying here. The hostel was fine but bathrooms weren’t clean. As you would expect from a party hostel.

This property is all about its location, surrounded by water. The volunteers were wonderful, but the staff were extremely rude and often ignored guests. If you can overlook the unwelcoming staff, it’s a great hostel to stay at.
