Porto Alegre Eco Hostel

This is not a social hostel. The majority of guests are Brazilian/ volunteers and not travellers and so there was no vibe here at all. The cleaning left a lot to be desired and the room description listed online is wrong. I am 168cm and could not get onto the top bunk (it has no steps or rail) and so I had to swap beds. Some of the staff are really nice but I would not choose to stay here again, unfortunately.

Lets start with the positives, the staff (and dog) was friendly and the amenities were fine (pool and a kitchen with equipment), and the location is ok if you fit in this environment. But the place was not clean, all of the sheets + towels stained, and all of the rooms had an incredible smell (stink), the shower was also really gross, hairs everywhere and toilet was clogged (I won’t go into details). The vibe also felt a little off. And my labeled food got stolen :(

I had a nice stay at Eco Hostels Porto Alegre. I stayed for two nights in a four person dorm. The bed was okay, with lamp and socket. A large locker. Good air conditioning during the night. Many toilets and showers. Nice swimming pool with pleasant garden. Kitchen and common rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hostel is located in an animated bohemian area with bars and restaurants and not too far from the historic center.
