Property Description

'If you are young, or young at heart, few hostels can compare with the vitality of this one. A constantly changing, international crowd of 20-somethings generates more pure fun here than anywhere else on the island.' - Lonely Planet

E Komo Mai (Welcome!) to the Banana Bungalow, Hawaii's longest-running, most sociable and adventurous hostel. We pride ourselves on our eclectic, inviting atmosphere and clean and comfortable facilities. Experience our free tours everyday of the week, including the Road to Hana on Tuesdays, a 12 mile/ 19 km hike through Haleakala National Park's volcanic crater on Saturdays, and beach and snorkeling excursions.

Our extensive, jungled outdoor space is perfect for socializing and remote work, and our large communal kitchen is outfitted with two gas stoves, three fridges and plenty of cookware. Your stay comes with a friendly atmosphere of camaraderie to explore Maui by day and get to know your fellow travelers by night!

We're located in Wailuku Town, at base of the beautiful West Maui Mountains, which is centrally located on Maui and just 15 minutes from the airport. Walk to award- winning, locally owned restaurants, hip boutiques, vintage clothing stores, antique stores, art galleries, historic 'Iao Theater, and the Maui Historical Society Museum.

I have stayed here before and chose to return. It's a place to relax, totally Aloha atmosphere! I was so blessed to have a couple of room mates that did not snore! So yes, I recommend it! Not to forget the free coffee and pancakes in the morning!

I have been to 20 hostels or so and this is the only one I have felt compelled to leave a review. Absolutely amazing: best staff, great events and the vibes are spectacular. Far better than Howzit if you’re not a square.
