We loved staying at the Hostal Vitalia. It is in he Barrio Italia of Nunoa, a fun part of Santiago with antique dealers, and 10+ restaurants/cafe's on every block for a full square mile or more. The few places we ate were very good. The Hostal itself felt very welcoming. We didn't get the chance to interact with other people staying there, but there is a good-sized kitchen and large outdoor space where we sat next to a water element, and also played ping pong. It was quiet and felt safe.

This is a pretty satisfactory hostel with a few things to keep in mind. I stayed here a few nights and I loved the location. As far as Santiago goes, being smack dab on Barrio Italia is extremely convenient and you can walk to various restaurants, shops, and neighborhood bazaars within 10 minutes. It is also close to the green line of the metro and various microbuses. However, my biggest issue was with the facilities. Great location- it’s a really safe area and i felt fine walking around by myself even at night. The property is really secure too. It was pretty quiet there being winter, most guests seemed to be staff volunteers & it was a bit of a weird vibe. The room had heating but shower only had hot water some of the time and there aren’t enough bathrooms. Overall it was clean, safe & functional so did the job.
