We have full self-catering facilities at Woodquay Hostel, which is ideal if you are on a budget. You can use the fully equipped kitchen to cook for yourself. We can also take care of your laundry and rent towels. We're an historic building, and don't have an elevator.

We are friendly & helpful and know Galway like the back of our hand.

New in 2018 we have a separate 2-bedroom house that sleeps 4 guests (up to 5 on air mattress). Woodquay Terrace is in an ideal location for exploring Galway, just a stone's throw from Eyre Square. It's a lovely, bright & airy home with 2 large bedrooms and 2 outdoor Patio areas. Perfect for exploring Galway on foot and close to coffee shops, restaurants & bars.

The overall vibe of this hostel is cringy. It is not cozy, and people were not up for chatting and some wouldn’t respond to my hellos in the common area. But of course, at hostels it is always a hit or miss with meeting strangers. My room was incredibly small with 3 bunk beds and not much airflow. It felt like a jail cell quite frankly. Comically enough, I woke up to see 3 full grown men asleep in the top bunk across from me laying head to foot. I told the front desk and she took care of it.

For the price, some facilities could be made better. Examples are the light breakfast. It's just flapjacks and bread and butter. I have been into many hostels which are less expensive than this in Ireland where even light breakfast has solid bunch of options with plant milk options, varieties of cereals. Basic toileteries like body wash could be maintained.
