Location is close to red line of subway so easy to get downtown. Bit annoying that the wifi can only connect when downstairs. Shared bathrooms were very clean and kept clean. There wasn't much of a hostel atmosphere which was annoying. Bed in private room was incredibly comfortable.

Located pretty far in Upper East Side, 2 blocks from subway station and 5 blocks from Central Park. To get to the most important tourist attractions you have to take the subway as walking to Downtown would take at least 2 hours. Windows are bolted shut with no possibility to open and let some fresh air in. Rooms are pretty dark, most of them facing the inner yard. They accept credit cards, and this is a plus. Very helpful and friendly staff though. Very clean but pretty dated hotel.

For Manhattan, it's pretty goood, definately one the best I've found as far value/quality goes. Safe area and easy to get around from there.

Should provide wifi in the rooms and not just the lobby

Internet connection is available only at lobby. It could be all floors. Room cleaning service working every day but the sheets and pillowcases not cleaned enough.

Marked down on facilities as there was nowhere in shared bathrooms (on floor 5 anyway) other than closed toilet lid to place clean/dry clothes/towel. a couple of hooks or even nails on the door would have made a huge difference. Private room fantastic. Extremely irritating that G adventures were unable to book another night's accomodation so had to move rooms when would have been easier if they could have done this from the beginning. easy to book on line however.

Perfect location, close to subway and central park. Maggie at reception was really helpful and friendly. Good value for uptown Manhattan.

It's an ok place. We stayed in a two person dorm room. Very sparse and basic, but good enough for a place to rest your head at night. Not blown away by the facility at all, but it worked and was clean and safe. Not too far from the red line, but still decidedly uptown location so a fair bit of travel to get downtown.

The female receptionist was rude and unprofessional. We booked a 2-person room and she initially put us in two separate rooms, which kinda defeated the purpose of reserving a 2-person room. I asked her twice whether there would be any possibility for my friend and I to stay in the same room and she seemed indifferent. By contrast, the male receptionist was amazingly considerate. Room-wise, the sink in our room was clogged. There were three shared bathrooms on our floor, they were all clean.

Good location on Upper West Side. Only 2 blocks from subway station so very accessible to the rest of the city. No lockout which is a must for NYC! Overall definitely an affordable, comfortable option for a trip to Manhattan.

We had a private room and really enjoyed it. Common room with pop corn, tv, fridge and microwave was handy. Bathrooms were cleane everyday.

The rooms were great. The biggest problem: alcohol is somewhat prohibited in the hostel. The elevator is COMPLETELY SCARY. I've even been locked up inside it (it failed to go all the way down). They kept getting it out of service. The hostel atmosphere is really sad. No one interacts, it's way more like a hotel than a hostel. The price is quite good for NY City. But I'm pretty sure there will be much better options.

One night I stayed in a dorm with bunk beds and two nights I stayed with a friend in a private room. The private room was definitely better being a little bigger with two twins and a TV. Wifi is only located in the communal areas. Showers have plenty of hot water. There is no food or tea or coffee only packaged food that you can buy that the hostel provided for purchase. The hostel was located on Broadway right next to the subway, grocers, convenience store, central park, bars etc.
