I am in the age group of the parents of most of the young people who stay here, but i appreciated having a double room with an ensuite that was well away from the lift and noise. It was comfortable, clean and half the price of a hotel room! So i certainly recomend staying here whatever your age!

I liked this hostel, but a lot of the people were living there and were already in a very set group, which made it a bit harder to meet people. My first room was very clean, but my second room was very messy and smelly. The common area and the garden were very nice and the bathrooms were clean. The free wifi and free breakfast were a definite plus.

I love habitat. It's such a friendly homely place. The staff are great also. The pub crawl and BBQ are great additions also. Stay here when in Melbourne!

Very bad location! not close to anything. St. Kilda is not the best place to stay. Also too big hostel and like many other in Australia lots of people living there.

We had high expectations of Habitat but were really disappointed, $34 a night to stay in a dark tiny 10 bed dorm that stunk. No room to put ur bags, our room door didnt even shut properly, I got a bad back from the mattress as could feel all the springs. Got told off by the washing up police because we left a chopping board unwashed while we were eating our food, reception staff were rude when my friend asked to use the 1 hour Internet on the PC's. Save your money and go to Base, its way better!

This is definatly a party hostel in a party neighborhood. As a guy who's years past group drinking games I found myself wishing for a quiet space to hang out and play guitar. That said, if I were 22 and wanted to be in a safe, fun place to booze it up and blow off steam this would be perfect. They keep the place very clean, there are multiple layers of security including under bunk lockers, assuming you have your own lock, and a short walk to lots of St Kilda stuff. Staff are great!

Was all good . The TV in double room could have been more logically thought out though .

Really need to emphasise the fact that 333 St Kilda Road is not where to go

Stayed there for the F1, perfect as just a 10 minute walk from Albert Park, stayed in two different private rooms which were clean and on separate floor to dorms (I think) so were fairy quiet too, good wifi and lockers in reception area

I cannot recommend this hostel enough. I was staying there for the grand prix. It was in a great location for Albert park but also for the city. It only took a short tram ride to get to the city centre. The staff were great, the hostel was so clean, it had excellent facilities, great activities every day and night. Definitely stay here!

Good hostel to stay in. The place is enormous and packed with real young mainly English people. Facilities are good, although not very clean all the time. Staff is mostly very friendly and helpful although there are some temporary staff members who could receive some friendliness training of the rest of the crew! Place is located in St. Killde with a direct tram connection to Melbourne centre and very close to the beach and supermarket. Would stay here again.
