The first night it was not possible to sleep as a terrible noise was coming from the heating. One of the toilette was in a terrible state. The room was completely empty. Just the beds and the lockers. Not even a chair. The WiFi was supposed to be free but in fact you have to pay. Other than the taxes you should add a fixed amount of money for each day (I think it was 3.5$) for cleaning and towels.

Excellent localization, and a very good breakfast. Though, it looks more like a bad hotel than a good hostel. It's a very old building, and not very welcoming. It's the more expensive hostel I ever paid for. I would at least expect free wifi and/or free internet access, but they rip you off for that too. Even if they had to charge, $6 for 1 hour of internet is unacceptable. Yet, I still recommend it. Maybe NY is not a good place for hosteling at all.

Cool Location. The bathroom wasn't the best... As well as the old elevator, I chose to use the stairs tough I was in the 4 th floor, hehe. But It'll be almost the best price you'll get in Manhattan. The good thing is that they offer towels and directions right away. I 'd recommend it.

The water voice of heating pipe is aloud, automobile sound big, let a person can't fall asleep. Front desk staff is not the solution to the problem. The room is old, not clean sheets.

Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location to enjoy NYC night and day. Typical New York charm. The pet cockroach was a source of amusement to the rest of the party!

This hostel is way too expensive for the actual facilities. The building is old and I didn't feel safe in there, especially in the elevator. And the staff is okay but I mean, a smile wouldn't hurt anyone. And I didn't quite understand the situation because some rooms are like apartments where people cook and leave the door open. Just think that sublets should be separated from dorms, singles rooms and the hostel itself. It's confusing and a little bit loud. And the bathrooms are awful.

First of all I was almost denied while checking in because I have a New York license. I don't know why City people forget that there is a huge whole other part of New York State. Buffalo and Plattsburgh are in NY and further away from the city than some other states are. I live closer to Montreal than NYC and was mad about this. I was allowed to stay because of an exception the staff person made for me. That's nonsense it took me 6 hrs to get there. My sheets were dirty with hair and Crumbs too

If you're looking for something cheap, this hostel is fine, but don't expect much service (the staff is not helpful, the breakfast offered is very basic and if you don't wake up early there might be nothing left, WIFI is not included and is quite expensive, we also had to pay to leave our luggage in the storage room even though we stayed there five nights...) We probably won't go back to this hostel when we visit NYC again.

Weird noises were heard during the night, which I believe came from the heater. The female staff on duty at night was very unfriendly. Should not impose charges for use of WIFI and luggage storage. Drinking water should be provided. Other than that, the hostel is clean and the location is excellent.
