I had a really quite and relaxed time at Sophia's House. I felt super welcomed and everyone there was absolutely helpful and nice to me. Sofia and her daughters know the meaning of hosting someone, they are always available and willing to make you feel at home...to the point you don't want to leave the house or Medellín! Also, great conversations we had; it is nice to meet people like them.

Sophia is a nice and intelligent woman. Her daughters are as well. She made us feel super welcome. Common areas clean. Beds were decent, rooms were good. Has a nice patio outback with some plants and chairs. In the neighborhood of Simon Bolivar which is generally safe and very cute. Laundry on site and no charge. Cafe with great bread and coffee 1/2 a block away as well as a markets. 20 min walk to metro or 10 min bus ride. Quiet at night. The home environment was comfortable.

It's more like a homstay, so that has to be what you are after. It's not a party hostel and it's away from the main party areas, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby at 81 and 33. I went to Medellin to study Spanish, so it was great to be able to use Spanish to talk to Sophia and her family in the evenings. I managed to find an excellent Spanish tutor nearby whose details I've left with Sophia, so if you want to study Spanish, this is a great choice.

The hostel could be cleaned more often. Dirty plates were on the floor in the living room when we arrived, and 24hlater were still there. Also people smoke in the hostel Beds are of poor quality.
