We thought we would be staying in the hostel because thats what we had booked! However, when we got there the manager or what ever she was said she had a 'nice little place got for us' ... She sent us down to some lady's house! These two had arranged booking us in to her spare room, but no one bothered to tell us. I will never book with this hostel again! God only knows where you'd end up staying!

The hostel is located at the town center, fantastic location.Extravagant lady-boss,looked friendly but only appeared at check-out times. The check-in time was so late that i had to leave my luggage in a common room at 13.30 and come back after lunch to finally enter my room.Good rooms ,but the corridors and the hostel itself were narrow.Freezing showers, poor breakfast. No keys neither security lockers provided.Dodgy night porters.

Hi Ferraz I have noted your comments and that you for that. I am JULIE the boss and i can assure you I am far from extavagent I work 7 days a week and have very little time off. I do history of the city and other events. The rooms are not ready until 2pm as the cleaners are always in and working. The breakfast consists of 6/7 different cereals tea/coffee toast and different jams and peanut butter and chocolate spread and juices. I was not awaqre of the shower in your room being cold you should have come to reception and told us as the water is on all day and night perhaps you were unable to use the shower properly. I do have a safe for safe keeping it is at reception as if you leave items in your room they may be stolen by other guests. and it is the oldest Hostel in Galway and the corridors are narrow but plenty of room to move along with comfort. Sorry you had an unpleasant stay. Kind Regards JULIE

My camera was stolen and I was not the first one. There are lots or strange people there and the owners don't do anything.

I have noted your comments and sorry for your camera but it is difficult when persons share dormitories to know who is a thief and who is not. I do have a safe for to keep valuables stored and there is also 24 hours security and a notice to say the management is not responsible for articles left on the premises. it was unfortunate but I am unable to do anything about it. There are strange persons in every walk of life and in almost every Hostel. regards JULIE

We were staying in Galway for one night over the Easter bank holiday weekend so finding a room was a nightmare. I would definitely say that this hostel isn't half as bad as the reviews let on. Not much info was volunteered at the desk but the young fella there was more than happy to answer any questions we had. We were let in during the night and had a decent quiet nights sleep..However, there was NO LOCK on the toilet beside our bedroom and i accidentally walked in on someone.

Showers where only warm in the mornings. Otherwise any other time the showers were ice cold. Staff where really friendly but what annoyed us was on the first morning they barged into the room at 11am not even knowing if we were staying another night or not. What made it worse was that they were leading customers into the room at the same time!! Bathrooms need a good cleaning out. Otherwise was good value. as near enough to pubs and the like.

Resources at the hostel were extremely limited -- they only offered their own tours. Atmosphere is not very welcoming. The luggage storage area was a dorm room that always had people in it, very strange. Didn't feel like my things were safe. Location is good, but staff isn't very helpful. Not worth what I payed.

I didn't like the atmosphere, they didn't be very kind and you must ring the door every time you come in the hosteI. I think it´s expensive for the staffs, at mornings there are a lot of people in a small kitchen and it's uncomfortable. They don't inform to you about the real price of the excursions.

nice, not great, but the kitchen was very big and user freindly. got some food stolen from the fridge, that was irksome, maybe if the security was slightly better, but all in all, a fine hostel for a bed and a kitchen under a roof... you know?

For me, there is too different Woodquay. In the day, with Julie, it's amazing and you feel welcoming. She is very helpful. But, in the night. there are some junkies and it's a scarying atmosphere (heard some guys yelling, throwing up, etc.). The kitchen is amazing and well equiped. I wouldn't recommand it, if the junkies stay always there. Otherwise, it's okay.

The staff was friendly and the location was far enough away to be quiet without being a hike from the nightlife. However, while I was there both a cell phone and a labtop were reported stolen. Also, in the dorm I was in, there was a couple hooking up in one of the beds...even after one of the staff members walked-in to show someone the room and saw what was going on, he didn't do or say anything.

On the arrival, the welcome was cold, without any information about the rules in the hostel, the breakfast time neither the good places to park in the city. Fortunately, it was not the same atmosphere in the morning with another person of the staff for the check out.

terrible the staff: really rude and really upset when you call them for something ( also just to leave the key before you are leaving), terrible the security: the door in the room stays open all the time if you are not really carefully. doesn't worth even a cent of the 18 euros I payed for a 8 bed mixed room...I stayed better paying less. absolutely terrible

this hostel was disgunsting, everything smells, the door of our room was broken in the middle. The lady that was working there, it was really impolite, horrible hostal. i don't know how they have a hostal if they don't want to work. the atmosphere was awful. Also there was only one toilet.. come on!!!!

We were surprised that the average age was higher than in oher hostels! Nevertheless, the people were still very welcoming and German friendly (love the german football team!) !!!
