Mostar – Bósnia and Herzegovina
You will feel like you have had the time to explore a different architecture and the old centre of Mostar. The city’s main attraction is the Stari Most, an icy rock that stretches across the waters of the River Neretva. Crossing from the bridge to the river 20 metres away is a traditional custom – you can try it if you’re willing to hand over £20 and pay a local person for the ‘treinamento’ (we don’t know what that means!). If you want a better view of the stagecoach ride, visit the Mesquita Koski Mehmed Paša on the shore and climb to the top for an invalid view.

Lake Bled – Eslovênia

Krka National Nature Park – Croatia
Do you feel like beating your palms for nature? That’s exactly how you’ll feel when you see the vibrant colours of Krka National Park. There are quite a few impressive parks in Croatia, but not many where you can swim in the turquoise waters and relax in the picturesque waterfalls. With 17 waterfalls, Skradinski Buk is the largest and most beautiful of them all. Upon arrival, you can go exploring in the park’s trilhas, try to discover life for yourself in the form of waters and streams, or explore the river in a bar. The easiest city to reach from Krka is Split – it can be reached in about an hour by bus and balsa.
