Hostelworld says

Hostelworld guests often compare Stayokay Amsterdam Oost (Zeeburg) to a hotel, saying it's spacious and clean and serves a very highly praised breakfast of 'eggs, cheese, ham, freshly pressed orange/apple juice' and more. Visitors tell us the hostel 'has excellent tram and bus connections and all the main attractions are on the same tram line', putting it about 10 minutes by tram from the very centre of Amsterdam. We like that there is a reading light and power socket at each dorm bed, with decor that's been described as 'beautiful and modern and...well taken care of'.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Everything was clean and comfortable. I kind of liked that you do put your own sheets on the bedding because it was more assurance that I was the first one using the clean sheets. I liked that this location is 20 minutes away via bus from the city center because it felt close to the action, while being relaxing and removed. The bus lines were super easy to use -- I never really had to time anything as there was a bus every 3 minutes.

StayOkay was exactly what we were looking for and was the perfect hostel for us. Being two American college students studying abroad, we felt super safe and comfortable in our six bed all female dorm. We loved the setup of the bed - while they weren't pods, the design presented a pod-like feel.

Although far from the main area, it was very close to tram and bus stops! The actual hostel was incredible on the inside, very roomy to sit and have a drink downstairs or play some games. If you are OK with not being walking distance from the main areas (the tram and buses were very easy to understand with a phone) then definitely stay here!

Stayokay is a pretty good hostel! There's a huge restaurant and common area downstairs, it's located right next to tram stops that will take you downtown, the staff is helpful, and the price is better than anywhere else in Amsterdam. The only downside is that it's a giant, moneymaking hostel, so you have to pay for a towel, make your own bed, there isn't much in the way of atmosphere, etc. I also wish the lockers were a bit bigger. But, other than that, I enjoyed it and would stay here again.

Very nicely kept place with very good staff. The rooms are neat and tidy with the bathroom clean too. Only problem is that there is just one bathroom for each room which can be a slight problem if the room goes full. The location is also a little off the centre but really nice if you like quieter stays

Pros: Great hostel all around, beds are super comfortable and rooms are clean with great facilities. Rooms could do with a bit more lighting but good for sleeping. Breakfast is good. Only 20 mins by tram to the city centre - great because it's nice and relaxed and so easy to get to the centre Cons: the lockers don't work as they should!! If you put your own lock into the locker, they can still be opened just by turning the knob!

We had a great stay there. Had one odd experience where I got questioned by staff about my breakfast choice but apart from that the staff were all fantastic. We heard some people’s bags got stolen from luggage room, so be careful if leaving stuff. We rented bikes which were great fun. Nice walk into the city and great views and shops in the area. The rooms were very modern and clean, bathrooms spacious. Would stay again, a nice place outside of the hussle and bussle of the city.

Well maintained hostel that provides everything you need. Breakfast was basic and a bit disappointing but can't expect too much. Overall, chill vibe with a good area to hang out and kept clean in the rooms as well as outside.

Good hostel, but too expensive. Actually all hostels in amsterdam were expensive. Little bit far from downtown, 45 minutes walking. It is in front of tram station Room was ok, without curtains, but shower and toilet inside (was good). Breakfast is ok for 7 euros

Stayokay Amsterdam Oost says

I think what guests like the most about our hostel is our price and quality. The rooms are clean and safe, there is free Wi-Fi. In our bar you can meet other travellers and play a game of pool or darts. The hostel has a bike rental service, which is a great way to get around the city! Our staff is very experienced and willing to help you find your way around the city. At the reception lots of things are available like towels, tickets for museums and attractions, public transport tickets and the Amsterdam card or City Pass.
Around the hostel there are some interesting things to do and see. For example, there is a cinema next door and a real Dutch windmill in walking distance. This is a good photo stop and it gets even better; it's also a beer brewery! At 'Brouwerij 't IJ' they make their own local Amsterdam beer and of course you can have a taste there on their sunny terrace.
For some culture you can take a short walk to the Royal Tropical Institute (Tropenmuseum). The permanent and temporary exhibitions display (art) objects, photographs, music and film from non-western cultures. Did you know that there are people with over 180 different nationalities living in Amsterdam?
Guests of all ages are welcome in our hostel. Over the last 5 years that the hostel is open, we have welcomed guests from 0 to 88 years. Most guests are between 18 and 30 years old. This is a wheelchair-friendly building and there is an elevator available. There are also several wheelchair-accessible rooms available for people with special needs or disabilities. Rian, Manager
