Hostelworld says

Hostelworld guests often compare Stayokay Amsterdam Oost (Zeeburg) to a hotel, saying it's spacious and clean and serves a very highly praised breakfast of 'eggs, cheese, ham, freshly pressed orange/apple juice' and more. Visitors tell us the hostel 'has excellent tram and bus connections and all the main attractions are on the same tram line', putting it about 10 minutes by tram from the very centre of Amsterdam. We like that there is a reading light and power socket at each dorm bed, with decor that's been described as 'beautiful and modern and...well taken care of'.

Really liked this place! The staff is friendly and clearly dedicated to helping guests. The common lobby is huge, spacious, plenty of seating, and has a pool table! A 20-minute tram ride takes you right to the center of Amsterdam. The rooms are clean and have two showers/sinks. Only a tad expensive, but great otherwise.

Very nice and beautiful hostel, would definitely recommend it when visiting Amsterdam, it’s located in a residential area so you’ll need to rent a bike to reach the city center, otherwise it is a 45 minute walk. Only downside is that there’s no hairdryer so you have to bring it from home

My dad and I had a great time at Stayokay Amsterdam Oost, the tram stop is one block away and it will take you directly to the city centre in 15 minutes, the facilities were clean, the staff was really nice and there were board games, Fussball and a pool table to play for free! It was my dad's first experience at a hostel and he was really happy with it. I'd definitely stay here again when I come back to AMsterdam.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay welcoming and comfortable. The room was a bit smelly when we arrived, but open windows and an air-freshener from the local supermarket soon took care of that.

Good location. The staff was very nice. Nice rooms, new and clean facilities. The room was not warm enough. The water in the shower kept getting cold and warm so it was really hard to take showers. Other than that, very nice place to stay and good value for money.

Very clean, friendly hostel! Very nice social areas and a cafe which offered eat in and takeaway options. Short walk to a local train station which had frequent connections to Amsterdam central station. The rooms were quite cold and took a long time to warm up with the heating & the shower temperature fluctuated a lot. Overall did seem relatively expensive compared to other hostel visits so a shared kitchen would’ve made it better value for money.

The hostel itself is realy good. The communal areas are big and the bar has variety of food and drinks. The rooms are well equipied with ensuite shower and bathroom, however, I would put the sinks in the same room as the bathroom and not in the middle of the rooms where you can hear everyone brushing their teeth 😂 Someone broke the padlock on my locker and stole my laptop so not sure about security as the hostel didn't take responsability. But they gave me the number of the police station 😅

Stayokay Amsterdam Oost says

I think what guests like the most about our hostel is our price and quality. The rooms are clean and safe, there is free Wi-Fi. In our bar you can meet other travellers and play a game of pool or darts. The hostel has a bike rental service, which is a great way to get around the city! Our staff is very experienced and willing to help you find your way around the city. At the reception lots of things are available like towels, tickets for museums and attractions, public transport tickets and the Amsterdam card or City Pass.
Around the hostel there are some interesting things to do and see. For example, there is a cinema next door and a real Dutch windmill in walking distance. This is a good photo stop and it gets even better; it's also a beer brewery! At 'Brouwerij 't IJ' they make their own local Amsterdam beer and of course you can have a taste there on their sunny terrace.
For some culture you can take a short walk to the Royal Tropical Institute (Tropenmuseum). The permanent and temporary exhibitions display (art) objects, photographs, music and film from non-western cultures. Did you know that there are people with over 180 different nationalities living in Amsterdam?
Guests of all ages are welcome in our hostel. Over the last 5 years that the hostel is open, we have welcomed guests from 0 to 88 years. Most guests are between 18 and 30 years old. This is a wheelchair-friendly building and there is an elevator available. There are also several wheelchair-accessible rooms available for people with special needs or disabilities. Rian, Manager
