The location of the hostel is perfect. It’s close to everything especially the Tanah Rata bus station. There are also some restaurants nearby which is very convenient. Breakfast is included, but it’s very basic: toast with strawberry jam and peanut butter.
There are a few details that are not too serious, but are important to know. If you book through Hostelworld and pay by card, you have to pay around 8% extra at the property, so it’s better to pay in cash. They also ask for a 20 ringgit deposit, which they return at check-out. They give you a receipt with the amount paid, so be careful not to lose that paper.
The person at reception was not very friendly. Also, at 10:00 p.m. they turn off the lights without saying anything. When I had to check in, the guy was not at reception. I called him several times and he didn’t come so a friend had to go outside to look for him so he could attend to me.
Not all the showers have hot water, so be prepared, because at night the temperature can drop to around 18°C. The facilities are nice there are areas where you can sit and the internet connection is good. Another thing that caught my attention is that check-out is at 11:00 a.m., and after that time you can’t use the facilities anymore. Otherwise, you have to pay 10 ringgit for every extra hour. one of the lockers doesn’t close properly and can be opened just by turning the lock with your fingers.
