13 Reasons Travelling Ruins You for Life
Oh, world, the things you do to me… Here’s a list of the unfair things travelling does to you so you can never go home again.
1. Because this is what your commute looks like…

…Or this…

Goldenpass, Switzerland
…rather than this…
2. Because now you’re trying to get to here…

Sydney Opera House, Australia
…or here…

Taj Mahal, India
…rather than here…

3. Because when you write, you’re not writing reports or essays…

…but about every single incredible thing you’ve seen, be that for yourself…

Amsterdam, The Netherlands
…or for the world to read…

Melk on the Danube, Austria
4. Because while you might be able to get delicious dishes from around the world at home, nothing beats the real thing…

Pho in Vietnam
…eaten where and how it’s supposed to be eaten.

Hawker Market, Taiwan
5. Because just for a while, life’s trivial problems vanish.

(Routine, loans, banks, houses, that new TV, having kids, settling down, bleurgh, whose narrative is that anyway?)

6. And because of that, you don’t have to live solely for the weekend…

…every party is about living for the moment, not erasing the week’s ever mounting stresses.
7. Because people on the road are way more relaxed…

…and so you make more of the best friends you’re ever going to meet in one short spate than you do in a lifetime.
8. Because you experience hundreds of different cultures, first hand, and meet people from all over the world.

(And the same old at home gives you itchy feet)
9. And because travel opens your mind, you’ll never believe all the fear mongering rubbish the papers tell you at home…

(Oh no, how are you supposed to function in society now?)
10. Because keeping fit involves doing this…

Raleigh Beach, Thailand
…or this…

Great Barrier Reef, Australia
…or this…

…rather than this…

11. Because now you can actually read all those books you’ve ever wanted to, and you read them here…

12. In fact, the whole beach thing… you’re here a lot.

(And why not? Who said life has to be a sprint to the finish)
13. And because time travelled is never time wasted, and you won’t return in a panic…

…even if you are forced back on the tredmill with everyone else, you’ll live life with a certain serenity…
…because life is an adventure and you have no regrets, other than maybe not getting out there a bit more…

…but whatever, there’s still time…

Oh, and this time, I’m never ever coming home…
