Hostel of the Week: Skyewalker Hostel, Scotland

Isle of Skye means ‘Cloud Island’ and this place is a total breath taker. Skyewalker Hostel is a rough diamond in the Minginish peninsula, planted amongst some of Scotland’s most otherworldly sea lochs, rugged forests and misty mountain skylines. But the beautiful location alone didn’t win them their Best Hostel in Scotland title at this year’s Hoscars – oh no, no, no! Take a big fat look at the Finnish cabins out back, aka the Sykewalker Jedi Huts, the giant chess board on the lawn or the glass dome, made specifically for star gazing. Damn, this hostel is one of a kind!!


As for outside of the hostel, you can dabble in everything from golf to pony trekking, and with it being within walking distance from the sea, it’s water sport heaven. Look out for the whales, dolphins, sharks and eagles too!
When in the Scottish highlands, one must immerse themselves in the Scottish spirit. Why not take a trip to the famous Talisker Distillery, or join in one of the hostel’s regular Scottish folk music sessions complete with instruments for guests to use. Justin Bieber singalong anyone? No?

So if you want to escape and get lost in a world of stars, unspoiled nature and wee bit of whisky, this hostel is your new best friend. Looks like our customers will back up that claim….
