Step in to Barcelona and it’s like wandering through Gaudi’s dream. All that sublime, surreal architecture, cobblestoned streets and the Mediterranean fiesta vibes sizzling in the air. Plus, the hostels are the shiz. You may look at our page in a confused state and shout, I WANT THEM ALL!! Well, no need to spend hours trawling the internet. We have wrapped up our travel wisdom with the best of the lot into a Barcelona hostel bible just for you…
1. Casa Gracia
WOAH! Are we in a ????? hotel?! As you can see, this mansion-turned-hostel in the leafy Jardinets of Gracia is summin’ else. Casa Gracia’s urban-chic décor is just the icing on the cake – these guys use their mega spaces for a variety of events, such as regular DJ sessions and live concerts from the newest talent on the block. Free workshops include the rhythm of Catalan Rumba, Lomography and there’s even an Instagramming Food Workshop! We get to eat the subject afterwards, yeah?
Good heavens, what do we have here? It’s the Fiesta Gràcia bar in Generator Barcelona, inspired by the city’s annual Festa Major Gràcia (15 – 21st August this year) of course! Generator also offers terraced rooms and penthouse apartments with mind-blowing panoramic views of the city. Not bad for a hostel, eh?!
3. Casa Kessler
Say hola to this Catalonian diamond, aka the essence of hostel high life. If glorious mezzanine ceilings, mosaic floors and art nouveau are your style, then you’ll fall in love with this boutique stunner. Each room is unique and you can even upgrade to a private apartment for next level luxury. Oh and p.s. outdoor yoga on the chill out terrace is all part of the deal. ‘Nuff said!
Get on yer bike at Bed & Bike Barcelona hostel! At this spacious hideaway they offer FREE bike rental so you can zoom around the city or pop to the beach whenever you wish. There is also no curfew for you midnight cycler owls. Twit twoo!
5. Toc Hostel
You might recognize this bad boi from a recent episode of “In Da Hostel”. The best part about Toc is that they make it beyond easy for you to relax and rej-uv-e-nate. Pool table? Games zone? Slick bar? It’s all here. But if you’re needing to crank your R&R up a level, why not pop a bottle of bubb on Toc Hostel’s roof terrace? Here they host barbeques, live music and *mermaid pool parties* ?. If it’s good enough for Fiddy, you know you’re gonna love it ?
A multi-Hoscar winner for the Best Hostel in Spain and Best Atmosphere awards, Paralelo is a guaranteed slam dunk (da funk). Enjoy being immersed in the true hostel experience with free Spanish and Italian-style dinners and an awesome crew to show you around their city. One customer even claims that she was left speechless with how incredible the experience was. If that ‘aint bucketlist material, we don’t know what is!
7. Pars Teatro
Hostels are not a one size fits all kinda thing, and the Pars Teatro Hostel has got the cool artsy vibe DOWN. Look for the cinema lightbox sign and you’ll find a hostel with vintaaaaaahhhge velvet chairs, antique lamps, and quirky artwork in gilded frames. How does a beach party sound? Poker and sangria nights? A free walking tour of Gaudi’s masterpieces? That’s right – pretty darn good. Pars is also slap bang central with La Rambla and the beach is 5/10 minutos = definitely our type!
A powerhouse of hostelling in Barca, Sant Jordi hosts four fun hostels across the city so all you need to do is pick your desired ‘hood. You might be in the mood for a skateboard theme with an actual ramp type thang. Orrrr, maybe you want join Hendrix and Jagger at Jordi Rock Palace where they have their own “Cavern Club” bar in the basement. The 95% rated Sant Jordi Hostel Gracia where “Voices chime in unison in a chorus of praise” for the staff is also a keeper. Decisions, decisions!
This one’s an all-time fave that’s all about the social vibes. If you’re travelling alone and want to make some new pals, this hostel will suit you to a tee with bar crawls, club nights, and beach days. In addition it has a 96% customer rating for location with it being near Plaça Catalunya so you’re at the heart of the action. But tbh with free paella on the table, we don’t think we’ll be going anywhere….
This slick hostel is perfect if you’re craving some quiet time away from the tourist crowd. It’s still near the sights such as Casa Batlló but on the flipside you get a peaceful, loungey atmosphere with a sunlit terrace thrown. Like a hotel, everything is taken care of – bed curtains, personal light, power socket and free lockers – but you also get the social side of a hostel. Cherry.on.the.cupcake ?
