Wonderful staff with helpful advice! Comfy and large beds. Nice air conditioning. Extra blankets on request if chilly. Discounts all around town and use of snorkel gear for free. Bathrooms smelly but still clean. No towels, but can get a nice one for 200THB next door t hostel. Small lockers but security cameras in dorms. Private feeling with divider walls between bunks. Small but nice balcony area. Near lots of restaurants, bars, and street food options. Would definitely stay again.
The good: •The location is great, 2 min walk from the piers. •The main staff are European, so there are no language problems. •You also get a discount at a few places, including the bar opposite "Reef", which is basically the common room, as there isn't one in the dorms. •The security is good as they have cameras overlooking the lockers. •The toilets and showers are cleaned regularly. The bad: • It smells of damp, although the toilets/showers are clean. • No common room/area
Great staff and a nice place but the bathrooms smell horribly. They're cleaned frequently but I think it's due to the sewage system?! Still a very nice place to stay!! Would go there again
Hostel was near the pier but far from everything else. Bathroom/toilet area was smelly. It's okay for sleeping but if you're looking meeting people it's not the best place.
It's a perfectly run hostel with a helpful staff, free snorkeling mask to rent and discounts for some bars. The guys also run the travel agency so rent your bike there, they are trustworthy.
Good location and very nice staff. they are very welcome.

Pros: Aircon works really well, the guy at the reception is really nice and helpful and you can meet lots of people even though the hostel doesn't have a common room. Cons: Bathrooms smell funny (but I guess this is a general problem on the island itself), quite overpriced for what you get (specially for being in a 14-bed dorm) Altogether I would recommend this hostel despite of its cons!
A decent hostel in a very touristy part of Koh Tao. We spent one night here and that was definitely enough. There was a pungent smell coming from the downstairs bathroom. The one plus side is the staff was very nice and helpful.
The hostel is a 15 min walk from sairee beach which is the diving and Nighline and it's a really easy walk! The staff at the hostel are extreamly helpful giving us tips on where to go and how to get there. The rooms and sink areas are imaculate howecer there is a very powerful and off putting odour that comes from toilet and shower area but please note this is odour only and these are also really clean! Good aircon and wifi. Can be noisy as bar across road but our stay was during the World Cup
allthing is good but the toilet ，too smelly ，stink。
I enjoyed my stay on Koh Taos Central Hostel. The hostel is situated really close to the pier, which helps since fairies arrive late/early and taxis are quite expensive. Beaches are easily accessible, everything else is close (7/11, shops, restaurants, cafes). The hostel itself is very safe, the staff are usually not far, very approachable. I had a great time, since the staff makes anything easy for you or they do it for you with a big share of humour. When i go back, I will stay there again.
Location - walking distance from pier, pretty easy to find however there isn't much to do around there. There are cafes/bars and stuff around and dive shops around but it was much better at sairee beach. Everything was clean, but the toilets do smell, especially because there are no windows. Small lockers available, bring your own lock. Rooms do not lock although the privacy is good.
It's all about the people you are with at the hostel.
The staff were very helpful, the rooms clean and secure. There are discounts at local bars/shops for staying here, and whilst there's no communal area most people head across the road to the reef bar for drinks, pool and getting to know everyone. There were plenty of showers and toilets, plus regular cleaning - very good overall!
LOVED this hostel. Sad to leave! Great staff! AMAZING ROOMS!! I stayed in the 6 bed dorm and it was so good! It was perfect for daytime sleepers because it was a little bit dark in there!
Right in the middle of the township near the dock, unfortunately Sairee Beach, a 15 minutes walk away, is where the fun is. Dorm houses a lot of beds only separated by thin and walls, hallways pretty dark in dorm so good for sleeping. Not very good when 11 perpetually drunk loud Brits as sharing your dorm. No real communial area except for the turf grass out the front. Hostel is hard to see from the street, just look for reef bar which is across the road.
The owner is super friendly and always happy to help. I appreciated his honesty about whatever question I had. The dorms have video cameras and are therefore very safe. Unfortunately not the best location. Magic happens further up north the beach.
Stayed at the Central Hostel for 7 nights and I would highly recommend it! Rooms are very nice and have big dividers between the beds so there is a little bit more privacy. Showers and toilets were clean although there was a bit of a funny smell but.. its Thai water, you can't complain too much. Owner Rolf is super nice guy and was always there to try and help out with something. My only complaint is lack of a common area but theres still plenty of ways to meet people if you try!
Nice and cold A/C rooms with really strong wifi which was hard to come by on the island.
Really nice location and the people in the dorms were a good laugh. Toilets were cleaned regularly but still smelt and had bugs in them.
