Good location and good security. Staff are nice and speak English well. I was issued dirty and stained bed sheets of low quality. Poor lighting and quite cramped everywhere inside. WiFi doesn't work well and people can always be seen camping out right next to the router to get Internet. This led to a lot of phone data usage. Bed electrical outlets are weirdly constructed and do not work well. No true common area, but they are affiliated with a nice bar across the street.
I absolutely love this hostel. I booked in for a couple nights and ended up staying five. The staff are absolutely amazing. The wall partitions between the bunks give you a bit more privacy and the bathrooms are simple but cleaned regularly. About a 15 minute walk from the bars and main beach but right next to the pier so getting on and off the ferry is really convenient. Lack of common area wasn't an issue, met a ton of people and congregated at the bar across the street almost every night!
Stayed here for one night. Big dorm but nicely separated into smaller parts with thin walls. Good aircon, nice shower and bathroom area. You have to put on your own sheets and no towels are available. Cafe across the street offers breakfast and drinks with a discount. Location is quite far from all the bars and beach. You're right at the pier
Staff were fab, couldn't have been more helpful! Bathrooms smell a bit but not so that they're unusable and they're not dirty or anything. No common area which was a shame but there was the bar across the road where there were discounts, and the owner bought us a beer which was a nice extra!
The lack of common area was a real let down! The bar opposite was suppose to act as a common area but as it is open to everyone it can be hard to know who's from the hostel etc. as there were even a fair few families eating there. I was even asked to move the table which was suppose to be reserved for people staying at the hostel in order to make room for a large group who wanted to eat. The atmosphere wasn't great! The beds, staff and bathroom facilities were average, bit far from main nightlife
I had a great time at central hostel! The rooms were clean with really good airconditioning. The Reef bar across the street was a nice meeting point. For several days in a row me and my roomies drank beers with the hostel owner Rolf. Rolf (als known as "Jochie") is doing a great job. Definitely worth staying. Shops and restaurants in the same street, Sairee beach is 15min walk which is fine.
This is a great hostel. I booked for 1 night and ended up staying for a week! Staff were very helpful with travel and activities, and enjoyed a couple of drinks to socialise. The hostel doesnt have a common space, but straight across the road theres a pub and you get a discount! Which serves the same purpose. The toilets do smell, but i think that is part of island living - sometimes they do, other days they dont. Very clean though! Will definitely be back!

Really nice hostel near the pier! Nice people from the hostel. With your key you get at a couple places discount ! 1000 bath by golden divers ! They really helpful as well. My plan was to stay 4 nights and I stay 10 nights 😁. Go to the reef bar, best food of the island! Order the chicken or the baby ribs ! Delicious! I really recommended this place !
Could not fault the staff at all. So welcoming and helpful. The hostel itself was nice, however it was quite a walk away from the bars which was a bit annoying but was a straight road to get to which made it easier. The room was fine, my friend and I were right at the air con, which blew onto my bed all day and night which was freezing, so much so I wore a hoodie to bed one night. I still had fun but would have liked to have been closer to bars, our fault not the hostels!
The bathrooms were disgusting. They looked clean enough, but they smelled like a sewage pipe, especially the showers. Very very gross. The noise levels were also really bad compared to other hostels in the center of town.
Bathrooms constantly smelt, possibly the garbages?
Love this hostel! Really great staff, so friendly and help you out whenever they can. The location is great, not on the main beach but 3 minutes away from the pier and a gorgeous beach nearby. Surrounded by great bars, shops, travel places and places to eat. Definitely coming back!
Had a great stay here and met some lovely people. The staff were fab and very helpful when it came to booking trips ferrys etc. great location beside the pier and a 15 min walk from sairee beach so close enough. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return. Toilets and showers has a horrible smell around them but apart from that everything was great!
Koh Tao Central was a great hostel. It's true, the bathrooms do smell a bit but not too bad. The staff was very helpful and the location is about a twenty minute walk to Sairee Beach but the Mae Haad beach area is quite nice as well. I would stay here again.
Couldn't have asked for a better hostel experience! Booked in for 2 nights and stayed for 2 weeks. Rolf, the manager/owner, helped us out with discounts on almost everything on the island. There was a cleaner on site almost constantly and the 24hour aircon was a welcome relief from the humid heat. You even get a 10% discount with your key at reef bar next door which acts as a great common area to meet people. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Great hostel on Koh Tao. Minutes walk away from the main piers and a short walk to the nightlife in Sairee beach. The hostel is very clean and dorms are well laid out with own personal light and plug. Air con is on 24 hours a day and there are security cameras all around. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Koh Tao!
Pros: Great location, wonderfully helpful staff, and a fantastic price. The cleaning lady comes every day and does quite a good job. The recommended scooter rental place was great. Downsides: the toilets and showers by the 14-bed dorm all have various things broken about them, the wifi is *achingly* slow with frequent disconnects, and the 14-bed dorm has no way to turn off the dim guide lights.
Stayed 3 nights at Central hostel and thought it was brilliant. The staff on reception were super helpful and friendly. The dorm had a fab atmosphere and the showers and loos were super clean (there seemed to be a cleaner in all day). Perfect location for the pier and only a 10 min walk to sairee beach. Bar across the road a good place to chill. Would strongly recommend!
The owner was really nice and got us a couple beers for respecting his hostel. Gives discounts to places in town since there is no common room so that was helpful, also the security cameras watching the lockers made me feel safer about my important items.
