the room was clean but it will be much better with new painting the doors, the boards and a new curtain at the window

I enjoyed my stay at Plaza de Armas. The location was central to the bars, colorful houses and port. A cat lives in the hostel, so if you are allergic, I would not stay here, because there is cat hair visible in the carpet and furniture. The shower also needs improvement. The pressure was very low and the tub is old and appears dirty. The breakfast also can use some improving. I felt the meat served was a bit silmy and the bread a bit stale..

Superb location right on Plaza de Armas, great terrace with views over the square, real coffe for breakfast. Apart from the dorms, they also have two huge rooms with private bathroom, . These rooms are great value, considering the location.

I stayed here in the first week of April 2012 and while the staff were fine, good location and nice atmosphere, the place was INFESTED with bed bugs. Literally crawling up the walls. Before booking here, call or email to make sure they've had pest control in there.

Very serious bed bug problem! We saw the actual bed bugs, not an assumption of bugs based on possible bites...

Lovely place to stay. It was more like a hotel cum hostel. The location couldnt be better. I stayed in a 8 bed dorm and it was a little hot during the night and there was no fan. Other than that, highly recommended.

I recommend the dorm rooms (great location and value), but not the private rooms. Breakfast is ok. Stayed in 2 private rooms, and the second was NOT worth the $60charged - the room backed onto a balcony where people smoked all night (so could not have any of the only windows open without inhaling smoke). and there was a large gap in a door allowing adjoining private rooms to see each other sleeping. Shower was not adequate - no hot water and the bath was so old it was disintegrating.

We loved staying at Plaza de Armas Hostel. They let us leave our luggage 4 before we could check in. They just put it in a closet within view of the front desk, so although it wasn't locked they could see who was going in and out. We stayed in the private room right off the balcony. It also had a living room and private bathroom w/ shower. Amazing views of the Plaza!! I would highly recommend this room & hostel. We took the free 4hr. walking tour which I would recommend as well if you have time.

The hostel is right in the centrer of Santiago. YOu have museums, cathedral, townhall around. You can go to the shopping malls in the pedestrian street + supermarkets and fish market by foot. The view from their terrace is very nice as you are on the 6th floor. Rooms are large and clean. They offer a lot of services and the staff is really nice. The best hostel ever.

The hostel was hard to find, but once we were there they took excellent care of us. The private room was comfortable and had an excellent view of the plaza. The staff also booked a taxi to take us to the airport at the end of our stay and let us use the luggage and common rooms until our evening flight. Highly recommended!

Awesome view and great atmosphere. I think late night revellers were asked to be quiet and considerate, for the first time in a noisy hostel, which was appreciated. The girl at the reception as we arrived was really helpful and very nice. My friend left her trousers behind and they said they'd hold on to it for another friend to pick up. Only stayed one night and didn't use the kitchen facilities, but would return.

The Hostel is situated in a very old (not cool old, just old) commercial/residencial building in the city center. The double room I've got (ensuite) is not even in the same floor as the hostel. Is just a lost room in a corner of a very large floor full of old dodgy commercial rooms and residential rooms packed with people coming and going. If anybody decides to break into your room while you're not there nobody from the hostel will be able to stop them. Very little hot water.
